Considering the price my expectations were high. The look is amazing; the radio is heavy and you can instantly see the built quality with a real wooden cabinet. I was so disappointed to hear such a poor sound quality when I turned it on. The sound is very “round” no definition, it’s all mid and low frequencies even when you turn down the bass and the treble to the max. I thought it might perform better with CDs or a bluetooth external source but it didn’t. So disappointed I’m returning it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A key to better sound~

I have the original Tivoli Music System - I actually added a bluetooth adapter so I could stream music over it also.The one thing that I found is when you listen to FM, you need to hit the "AUDIO" button and change the EQ from "Wide" to either "MONO" or STEREO EQ." The "WIDE" setting is default and it works fine with CDs, but with FM, the sound improves dramatically when I take off "WIDE."I have a lot of audio...probably too much. I have a lot of vintage receivers and some new stuff - like Bose. I have Audio systems in 6 different rooms in my house - I just like vintage receivers! I use the Tivoli Sound System in my kitchen - for listening to sports and some music. It looks great and the sound is solid...when you use the EQ~!I have 2 of the Tivoli Kloss Ones also - a great looking radio...and that is why I bought this. It looks retro, but has modern features.If you want ultra high end sound, this is NOT the way to go. I think you need components and a full EQ, but if you want a great looking system that is not obnoxious in size and delivers solid performance, this is it.I also added a TERK FM antenna, which greatly improved my reception....

Tivoli Systems 3 radio: Underwhelming

We have had this Tivoli Systems 3 radio for more than five years. It has had a series of problems, one after the other. The electronic tuning is only legible with a flashlight because the back light went on the blink. The sound quality is scratchy and sub-optimal. The remote control no longer is operational. The instructions for using the controls are indecipherable. We ended up switching with much a simpler and cheaper Sony radio and the sound quality, although not in stereo is better. And tuning is easier. We loved the European styling but the functionality and durability is not there. We have a Kloss Model 88 radio in another room that is still going strong after almost 20 years. This is what we thought we were getting with the Tivoli and it did not deliver. Would be very reluctant to buy another Tivoli product.

Great sound if you give it space to expand

I listen to classical and jazz, with the occasional punk and noise albums thrown in. The sound is great. These mini-stereos are often described asbookshelf systems, but boxing this in will muffle the speakers which project in different directions.I agree with the criticism of the labels on the buttons, which are nearly invisible.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A compact answer to entertainment sound and sight.

The sound from the multiple speakers (including the down-firing bass) is superior to anything else I have heard in a book-shelf radio-CD system. It is especially attractive to the eye with controls that are simple and logical. For those who do not want multiple components, this is the obvious choice for the eye and the ear.

Lacking in quality, reception and sound

I live in a typical Brooklyn railroad and the reception is horrible. While I love the look beautiful warm walnut retro look, sound is lacking in amplification and clearity. I would not recommend this product. I am so frustrated having spent so much on this system
