After a lot of comparing between apple utlra and the fenix All the features I wanted are easily accessible Maps for running , biking , the real selling point was for recreational diving as a back up computer
This is my second Garmin fenix pro solar watch, after I bought fenix 8 51mm solar last year. It has many features that I like. I would definitely recommend it to any one who is in the market for a smart watch.
I have had the Fenix 3, 5, 7, and now the 9. Every time they have gotten better and the Fenix 9 Pro, inReach Solar is no different. Easy to use, tons of great features and everything seems to have become more accurate in its tracking. I've only had mine for a little while, but I can't wait to try out some of the other features. People are constantly amazed at what my watch can do compared to theirs.
I previously wore the Fenix 7x Solar Sapphire which I purchased new 8 months before the Fenix 8 release. I was extremely happy with the 7x SS. When the Fenix 9 Pro SS came out with upgraded memory and better processing. I new that was my next daily wearable partner. It is a big adjustment from the 7x with a ton more features available. Teaming it up with the Garmin plus plan creates an environment that also truly helps guide a person after struggling with a health condition and trying to bounce back. The Inreach capabilities feel like a strong safety net as well.
1. The inReach function is a completely different program than previous Garmin Mini inReach and other inReach devices uses. I bought this thinking the watch would replace two devices (my previous watch and inReach mini- win!)— however this is not the case. The new inReach on the watch uses a different file format that is not supported by other race formats like Trackleaders or Dotwatchers. This is in the fine print after I dug into it. — disappointing.
2. Battery life— even when turning off satellite functions and minimizing connections— battery life isn’t 1/2 of what they advertised. This is really disappointing.
I returned the watch and reverted back to my previous Enduro 2. I’m disappointed Garmin— do better.
How’s little hesitant to upgrade from fénix 8 pro to 9 pro solar. Now that I have it for about a month or so, I am glad I did. I have yet to charge this watch yet. Solar function is really good at recharging the watch. Also, full titanium case feels and looks premium. No plastics. Overall, I think this awesome product.
