Excellent metrics; improvements are still needed

This is one of my favorites; I had never owned a Fēnix before, and its metrics have met my goals so far. Just one detail: the battery drains very quickly, I think they should look into improving that. I’m still testing out this excellent watch; thanks, Garmin.

I bought the watch several days ago tried setting it up and using it and found it very difficult to use and very complicated. Took the watch back for a refund.

Exactly what you would expect

Been using this for about a month now, replace my foreunner 970. That watch is heavier and thicker without a doubt but the look and feel is premium for sure.

Great function, great display, great battery

I’ve been a long-time Garmin user, before the amoled screens. I went to Apple Watch Ultra because of the better screen. But this watch puts together the Garmin function and battery life with a great screen and case. Love it

A Worthy Upgrade, and Already Proving Its Value
on October 18, 2026
Posted by: mark pen
I recently upgraded to a Garmin Fenix 9 Pro from my previous watch, a Fenix 5S, whose battery finally gave out after nearly 10 years of reliable service. And boy, am I glad I did!
Switching to another brand was never really a consideration. For me, Garmin watches offer by far the best combination of rugged styling, battery performance, and features for an active outdoor lifestyle, while still delivering the smartwatch conveniences we've come to appreciate, like contactless payments, music and podcast playback, notifications, and activity tracking.
Some of the biggest improvements I've noticed (and really appreciate) over my older Garmin include the stunning AMOLED color screen, beautiful all-titanium case, built-in flashlight (so handy!), voice-activated commands, and an impressive range of new fitness tracking features. There are so many, it'll take me a while to explore them all.
Battery life is fantastic, as you'd expect from Garmin. I love not having to plug my watch in every night like my Apple Watch friends!
Although I didn't opt for the inReach-equipped Fenix 9 Pro (I'm not much of a backcountry guy), the watch's connected safety features have already proven their value in a way I never expected.
On my very first neighborhood jog with the new Garmin, accompanied by my dog, we had an unfortunate and pretty scary encounter with a passing pedestrian who couldn't control his aggressive pit bull. The dog lunged at mine, and in the ensuing tangle of leashes and my efforts to protect my dog, I fell awkwardly and got pretty shaken up. To make matters worse, the other guy started yelling obscenities and making quite a scene.
Fortunately, my Garmin detected the fall and automatically triggered its **Incident Detection** feature, sending an emergency alert to my wife. She immediately called to check on me.
Thankfully, both my dog and I escaped without injury, although we were both pretty rattled by the whole experience.
What really impressed me was knowing that my Garmin had my back. Without me having to do anything, it recognized that something might be wrong and reached out to my emergency contact. The situation could easily have been much worse, and knowing my watch could help get assistance in a real emergency was incredibly reassuring.
If there's a better real-world example of the value of a connected smartwatch, I can't think of one. And to have this happen on my very first run with the new Garmin!
Thank you, Garmin! You've earned a loyal customer for another decade.

I have had this watch for about 3 weeks and I absolutely love it. I converted from a fenix 5 plus and of course, the upgrade was amazing. By the way, the fenix 5 plus still works good after all these years!
