Waterproof

This 4th of July I had my speaker sitting on the dock. I bent over to pick something up and my sunglasses fell in the lake. While I was searching for my sunglasses, I found my speaker sitting at the bottom of the lake. Not sure how long it had been there, but I'm sure it had been awhile. It wouldn't power up right away, but I let it sit for a day or so and it powered up and played perfect. Love this speaker.

held up to a heavy rain storm

I have owned the Flip 4 for about a year and a half and it has been exactly what i wanted. I use it regularly whenever i want to listen to music around home. I've taken it camping and it filled the campground with great audio. Just a few days ago we accidentally left it outside on our back patio (patio has no cover) before a pretty bad storm hit--lots of wind and heavy rain! Our Flip 4 was out there the whole day through the whole storm and it still works just the same as before :)

Sounds great but the battery didn’t last for 6 months.

A generation of greatness

I have multiple family members across different generations, including myself, that own this speaker as well as the Charge that was part of the same generation. The sound quality is amazing and the ability to connect to other JBL speakers with the JBL connect functionality allows you create a lot of quality sound for a reasonable price. I have recommended this speaker to a lot of neighbors (at least they liked the quality of the speaker) and friends. That being said, I would not recommend the newest version of this speaker. As with a lot a people in my generation, I work in software development and we are constantly trying to push the envelope of innovation using the newest technologies. I wish JBL had the same approach.

Does not charge while playing if dead

Awful feature where it never charges if I want to play it after while on low battery with one blinking light. Plugged up to the wall and everything. It dies every single time. I have to wait at least an hour for it to completely charge and use it. I use it for sleep sounds at night, imagine it shutting off mid sleep and having to wait an hour! Awful product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought a refurbished speaker to save money and it works just like new! I love it and know I will be getting a lot of use out of it this summer! It also has amazing bass!
