A little more complicated than it seemed to be. Blew a fuse first time I used it. Don't know why. Not sure it is really worth the money....except I don't want to use my regular vacuum for ashes from the fireplace.
Works very well at cleaning our fireplace insert and surrounding area, functioning as advertised. The motor does heat up fairly quickly, apparently due to the power needed to push air through such a fine filter, but mine has not reached the point of shutting off. The ""full"" indicator is not terribly accurate -- mine shows the unit to be nearly full when it is only about a third full -- but I usually empty it after each use anyway. Non-stainless steel models are available elsewhere at a lower price, but it is worth the difference to me to have this more corrosion-resistant model. Ashes tend to be pretty corrosive. Overall, I am satisfied with this product so far. If I can get five or six years use out of it, I will consider it a good investment.
I recommend this product for its ease of use and attachment.

This vacation um is make by it easier for me to clean out our pellet stove! The brush attachment helps with a thorough cleanup! The vacuum is lightweight and easily portable, but does have the same tendency for the motor to heat up quickly. I found no problems when I turned it off when not necessarily needing to have it running for nothing. It will shut off automatically when overheated, which is a nice feature.
We heat with a wood stove during the winter and I wanted a vacuum cleaner that was only for the stove, saving my more expensive machines. This does the trick very nicely.
A friend recommended this ash vac because she has had one for 8 years now and loves it. I really feel more comfortable using this than my Dyson for cleaning my pellet stove out and it works amazing. I sure hope mine lasts like hers has.
