Started modular builds after I ran out of the Starwars UCS ones that I have. Wanted to try something different. This is the 5th or 6th modular and the only one with issues in directions and missing pieces. Luckily I have a cookie jar with spare pieces or I would be at a stand still

Good first modular build

This was my first time building a set like this. It was a lot of fun seeing it all come together. Instructions were clear except for the one error with pieces in the next bag. Glad I was warned about this. Very attractive end product, and now the mini figs are on the roof having a party with pieces from the lunar new year vip pack. 😊

Really enjoyable build

This is my seventh modular build, having recently got back into Lego at 43 years old. This build was really enjoyable, and I particularly liked that the jazz club occupies all three levels of the main building, which really adds to the realism of this set. I love the stain glass windows and the large jazz club sign, and the little green house that sits on top of the Taylor ship.
As others have mentioned there is an issue with the bag organization in this set, with some of the pieces required for the end of bag 12 actually being in bag 13, but I quickly realized that and it obviously doesn’t take anything away from the quality of this set.
Now I just need to figure out what I’m going to build between now and next January :D

Love it

I love all the lego modular buildings and have done all of them since Assembly Square plus Palace Cinema. Assembly Square was special and in a league of its own, but otherwise they keep getting better and better. The detail is wonderful, the little stories are super cute, there are two buildings, five floors between them, plus a rooftop greenhouse. I consider that well worth the price. I wish they would make so many more modular buildings, because I'm all caught up now and am missing having a lego to build. The only problem is figuring out where to keep them once they're done. Highly recommend!

Please fix discrepancy in directions and bag 12

The 12th bag runs out of pieces when the instructions for that bag go on for a few more pages. Fortunately those pieces are in bag 13, so ultimately all pieces are included. But not a great builder experience when you fear you’re missing pieces that far in! Otherwise, as a jazz fan this was a fun thing to build.

Another Fun Modular but Missing Pieces

This year’s 2023 Modular Building is beautiful. LEGO’s attention to detail, as with all designs/sets, is incredible! I unfortunately (for the first time) am missing several pieces from a bag, so I can’t finish the build until I receive what I need. I am always impressed with LEGO’s customer service! They are always extremely kind and resolve issues without complications. Out of all of the LEGO Modular Buildings, this one has been the easiest to build. I do wish there was a little more complexity; however, overall, I am very satisfied with this beautiful building. I can’t wait to connect it to my other builds! I would surely recommend this set to other LEGO fans.

Finally, another great set.

Since the word ‘awesome’ has ceased to have any meaning and I have more than an average vocabulary, I’ll skip the use of that word. This is the best modular in years. No missing pieces and great design. While I’m usually not a fan of multi-themed modulars, this one works. The police station-donut shot was an old over used cliche. The jazz club-pizza place seems like a much better idea. Of course, I could think this is a great set because I’ve been building alternative brand modulars for the past several months. Hey, Lego! How about a mid year release of a ‘half’ modular. Subjects like a donut shop, news stand or flower shop could easily be done on half of a full sized base plate. Plus it would put money in your pocket and I wouldn’t have to buy as many alternative brand modulars. Or, maybe I liked it because I bought the latest Lego Eiffle Tower and gave it away after completing roughly 25% of it due to sheer boredom and maybe a little bit of a questionable design. Anyway, Jazz Club is a first rate set. Oh, if you get to the end of section 12 and are missing the pieces for the last 2 pages on instructions, they’re probably in bag 13 like mine were.

Nice building, no quality control

The set includes a nice variety of colors for the buildings and includes only prints. Especially the window art with transparent color bricks looks incredible. The indoor walls should have received more detailing and some guests in the Jazz Club would have made the scene more lively. I would have expected at least 2-3 guests and a waiter or a door man or someone behind the ticket counter. The light yellow bricks and the light yellow plates have a different coloring to the point where it is very visible. There is not much going on in the back of the building, it is very bland but the big windows allow a view into the rooms, which is nice. A backstage entrance would have been nice with a sign going along with it, maybe some dumpsters, instead of only a door with no markings.
The building experience was a little boring. There were no interesting building techniques or very unique ways to build certain items. The set is built in no time.
I like the building as it has a nice facade, especially the blue entrance of the Jazz Club sticks out for me, but the worst part of it all is that there was no quality control. The bricks for building step 331 and following are not in the bag/s associated with the building step and after a long search I realized that some of those bricks are in the bag of the next building step a few pages later. But in the end, again bricks were missing and after having built the set the facade shows gaps due to missing corner and regular plates. It is a shame to have to wait again two+ weeks before I actually have a finished set (if my request for the missing items will be approved) - in one year of having bought dozens of LEGO sets only one set (42136) had all parts in it. It's not the building experience long-time LEGO customers like me are looking for. The growth LEGO has experienced since 2020 is not managed well and comes at the cost of low quality with a lack of motivation to solve the known issues. At least that is what I experience.
