2 sets in 1, but not great across the board

Let's take a look at the two halves of this set. I really questioned the need for the underground section, but it's honestly the best part! Lots of fun to build and fun functions. 5/5 Gringott's is impressive, but building up the sides got very repetitive. I might be an adult collector, but toys shouldn't be boring! I also wish the baseplate was the same size as the rest of Diagon Alley, but I understand that choice based on the underground section. 3/5 Overall, this set is a great addition to 75978 Diagon Alley. If you have to pick just one though, I would say Diagon Alley is the easy choice. For kids' sakes, I hope they break this down into a smaller set like they recently did with 76422 Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. I could even see doing a set based on just the underground "rollercoaster" section.
We started on Christmas day and worked a bit throughout the day to complete it in 5 days. WAY cool build. The directions were clear and easy to follow. This brought back memories of my first trip to Diagon Alley at Universal Studios, coming around the corner and suddenly there was the bank with a DRAGON on top! The inside of the bank was just like the movie and had us awestruck with the moving Goblins as bank tellers. The ride was wild and so much fun. So is this build as the miner's car goes into the bowels of the earth with stops at several vaults. (Adults like to play too) . The dragon articulates with wing spread and can be played with separately. Just awesome. Well worth it.
We've built Diagon Alley, Hogwarts Castle, Hogwarts Express, among others, and this was by far the most fun to build. All the hidden surprises while building and how complex and true to the movies this build was, really made this one our favorite HP lego to build so far.

An absolutely stunning build that really captures the grand and illustrious nature of Gringotts. The addition of magical menagerie is a great (and accurate) touch. there is many places to pose Minifigures and create a bustling and exciting display. Besides the incredibly solid and beautiful build for the actual Bank we also get a really awesome portion designed after the deep caverns surrounding Gringotts Vaults, they capture this environment incredibly well and the included railcar system with stops is incredibly fun to use and looks great. I really appreciate the charming design for each of the vaults, and especially love the play feature and stickers used for the Lestrange family vault. One of my personal favorite parts of the set however would be the dragon, its much larger than I expected now having it in person and the amount of detail and pose-ability is phenomenal. It really feels like the designers wanted to include something for every Lego fan, with a beautiful and impressive design for the buildings and parts of Diagon alley, but they also include a really fun and imaginative portion that still displays well and serves a good purpose. Not to mention you get a Whole Dragon with unique molded head piece As well as a phenomenal selection of minifigures and interesting pieces like Godric Gryffindor's Sword, Dumbledore's letter to the bank and Hermione's purple satchel from the deathly hallows. I think the Lego Harry potter designers absolutely nailed this one, creating a stunning, and attention grabbing display that also offers a multiple well thought out play features that don't subtract from the overall aesthetic in anyway. Along with this it has a really solid piece count and figure count for the price, offering much more for your money than many other licensed UCS sets can. The price is certainly high, but in comparison to other UCS sets that the Lego community is very passionate about, it really is a better option value-wise. The ability to connect to Diagon alley is also a phenomenal decision and is well done, with most layouts being achievable with minor if any modifications. Overall This Set is an example of how much Legos build quality and design has improved, and how great Lego products can be when talented designers are given free reign to bring unique designs to life.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're so glad you have enjoyed building the Gringotts™ Wizarding Bank! We love to hear when builders have loved their sets!
First, a round of applause for the Lego team who designed this. It is a unique and wonderful build. I could pick on a few minor complaints but the only one that I will mention is the spacing of the stickers for Gingotts Bank. The space between the two T's is noticeable but because of other reviewers mentioning it, I very carefully trimmed the stickers before placing them on the bricks and it looks great. The design of the vaults and track is a lot of fun. My grandson is having a lot of fun playing with it. I also appreciate the division of bags and matching to the different instruction books. This allows multiple people to build together. I can't imagine how much planning on the part of Lego that took so thanks to that team too! It was great fun and we played the first 5 Harry Potter movies in the background to set the mood.
