Trying to make yet another connection that should be easier--putting a small beam on two pins that are virtually inaccessible inside the build--pieces kept falling off. I give up. The project is needlessly fiddly and fragile. For this price it should be a seamless flowing happy experience to make the item, not endlessly frustrating. I am tempted to find a new hobby.

Missing Pieces

Never have we had a set with so many missing pieces! My son was really looking forward to building this but we are already up to 20+ pieces he has to wait for in order to finish it. I’m sure once it’s finished it will be great but it stinks to pay this much and the set is incomplete!

As much as I love themes such as Star Wars and Marvel, I truly appreciate this masterpiece! Its endless capability to recreate battles for Ninjago City and all the wonderful new minifigures make this a wonderful set! I'm currently building one of its counterparts (71741) and they look incredible combined! Keep up the good work!

This is among my favorite sets to have ever built. I am not versed at all in Ninjago lore or other media and yet still found a lot of novelty from the sheer volume of referential elements, stickers, and sub assemblies. I particularly like the congestion of the interiors insofar as it makes this set feel like a slice of a proper cyberpunk style city (capturing that classic Neon Hong Kong [1980s] feel) while definitely being its own little world. There are two points of concern which should be kept in mind before committing to getting this set. 1) There are 70 stickers. I have fun with stickers but this is quite a lot of difficult to fix chances for error. 2) I am not a fan of 1-stud connections. For modular structures this makes sense of course, but mid-assembly it makes building require more cautious and gentle hands and sub assembles can sometimes break. While I think putting 18+ on the box would have been overkill I don’t see how a child - even the intended 14+ year old - would have he patiences repeated for some steps in the build. Append: the water tiles are not boring or repetitive to do because they’re done between building other structures. If you got about 30 hours to gently and deliberately dedicate to model construction and want a top tier “doll house” kind of thing at the end then this is the set for you.

This set was an enjoyable build and I appreciate the slot in/slide out rooms that allow easier play, show and tell and modifications. Some of the building instructions were hard to follow due to the colors or the angle of view illustrated. I’m not as drawn to this set aesthetically as the previous sets in this series but appreciated some of the innovative new building techniques and detailed spaces.
