Very good set, it even got here two days earlier than expected. The experience of building, playing, and ordering the set was great and I will probably get more items on LEGO.com later.
This is a great looking set. When I finished it looks more like a model than a Lego set. Very impressed with the attention to detail but slightly confused by the decision for the representation of the steering assembly. That particular detail seems awkward when compared to the rest of the set. Still a great build and a beautiful finished product.
The building experience for this set is top notch. The display value is fantastic. It commands attention and fits well in my cubby. The design is great, there are some repetitive parts, but it is a very rewarding build overall. The flaw - this is a historical ship which highlights the will of the crew and Shackleton - who is not included unless you purchased and received as a GWP. The lack of Shackleton in this set makes it feel like Lego really cheeped out on the fans. The secondary market for Shackleton is crazy too. This is no play set. It is purely for display. I am not a fan of ships, this is my first one, I was pleasantly surprised. Having built this, I feel like I do not need to build the Titanic, it's that good!
Like my other Icons sets, I love the little hidden gems in this build. It was engaging to build with enough variation to keep it interesting. It displays beautifully.
