this set is insane! lots of pieces, and everything about it just shouts awesome castle. love how it folds out and is very easy to view. if i could, i would give this set 6 stars! outstanding job LEGO!
A absolutely beautiful castle. Has the classic look w today's technology. A master piece and I can't stop looking at it. My kids love it. So many rooms and figures. Can't say enough. I want another set!!!!
I've been a lifelong fan of Lego castle and medieval builds. This is easily my favorite official castle, full of wonderful little nooks and secrets and with a ton of minifigs to bring it to life.
The build experience was a delight. Each room was given a separate focus in the instructions and filled with wonderful details and some amazing techniques. The use of angles in this castle is especially fantastic.
I disagree with the opinion I've seen from some that this set is a little too expensive; for me it hits at just the right price point. no matter how happy I'd be to have it cheaper. But bear in mind it has 21 minifigs and a good number of printed parts, no stickers, with a pretty high piece count.
If I had anything negative at all to say about the set, it's that the forestmen's nook under the trapdoor is really only accessible when the castle is pulled apart into separate sections instead of having some way to open up via hinges. That's a very, very small nitpick because I honestly doubt the designers had a better way to handle it. That it's there at all, and given as much loving detail as the rest of the set (as is the adjoining bat cave), is good enough for me.
I hope this leads into a resurgence of medieval sets, especially a new medieval village. We don't have nearly enough of the ordinary folk who make the villages and cities run.
As a historian and historical architecture analyst I cannot express enough love for this set in one simple review. I build castles all the time and this was an amazing addition to my collection. Amazing parts and a huge number of them. Looking forward to more castle themed sets in the future.
The number of furnished rooms and minifigures is impressive. I enjoy the interactivity of the drawbridge and front gate opening/closing.
Unfortunately, the different sections of the castle don't always stay together very well, especially when transporting it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If your set ever seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together. We're always happy to help at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
Impressive all around, from the designs to the variety and everything else. Makes me very excited for the DnD set and I hope Lego continues the castle/fantasy theme
