I bought this set for my 36 yr old husband who grew up playing with LEGO sets. He was ecstatic when he opened the box, and even more so during the build. He said, "My childhood is complete!" He always wanted a giant castle. It was so much fun watching the joy on his face and seeing his inner child shine. He was so impressed by the level of detail, operation, and all of the hidden gems in this set!

Fantastic Set

This set was my favorite build to date. It's a very fun and satisfying build experience with little over repetition. It displays nicely open or closed at any angle. The features and hidden features are extremely fun the novelty or to play. The minifigure variety and amount were great. I gave it 4/5 for value, really it's 5/5 for Lego value, the brand just has it's premium.

This has to be one of coolest sets I've ever put together. Realizing how the design comes together and you put each brick together is a pleasure. Discovering how each piece created secret caves, entrances, bedrooms, and working gates really brought a smile to my face. I highly recommend this set.

The best one. Period.

When I was a kid, I wanted Lego castle stuff so badly it almost hurt. I coveted the line. It sent my imagination spiraling. And I never had any.
I got back into Lego as an adult mere days after this set was released. I dipped a toe, then a foot, into the modern Lego waters, and then swan-dove headfirst right into the deep end. And Lion Knight's Castle was my first "major" set.
In some ways, this is almost a shame. I said in my review of Assembly Square that making that set my first modular had the unfortunate consequence of setting an impossibly-high bar for all the modulars that came after. The same is true for Lion Knight's: I'm honestly not sure any set can or will ever live up to this one for me.
Is that opinion influenced by the ghosts of that childhood longing? Maybe - but I don't think anybody who has built this set would deny that it is anything short of magnificent.
As a build experience, it's just flawless. And I really mean that. I was never even close to bored, not even doing the slightly-repetitious gray exterior walls. The way this build unfurls is pure magic. You're always putting in fun little details, creating and then hiding Easter eggs and play features, going "oooo that's COOL" over some build technique (the balcony-to-catwalk trick is particularly cool). It's dynamic, engaging, and a true joy from start to finish.
As a display model, I mean, look at the thing. It's majestic. It's got that special, magical Lego whimsy through and through, and yet is also built to a scale and scope that makes it impressive to behold.
My only complaint is that Lego didn't figure out a way to violate the laws of physics and keep the front AND back of the set displayed simultaneously, because I want to look at all of it at once. I'm almost - ALMOST - crazy enough to buy a second one so that I can have both sides on display. But then I'd need a third so I could have one closed up, too.
And honestly? If money was no object? The thought of building this whole set two more times? I'd do it in a heartbeat.
This is the best one. What a masterpiece.

I love this castle but

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this set on December 7 of 2023 and it came with one pice missing but I found a workaround for send part. When I was done building I unfortunately dropped half of the castle and I broke a pice. Wich I also found a workaround, and possibly damaged some others. Fair warning to anyone who gets this set be carful when trying to move it it is not vary stable, and there are no videos on how to pick it up and move it. Overall a nice build my sister loves the lego people who come with the set. She is 7 and I got this set for us and she loves it just as much as I do. I got it in its box right now because I don't have any place to put it. Also yes I almost cried when I dropped it.

A Blast from History

The build is fantastic and as a lover of medieval history, this set is easily the best when it comes to trying to be accurate and authentic. A beautiful drawbridge, a amazing and often overlooked sally port, arrow slits for bowmen. The only thing that could be an improvement is if extensions were sold to add onto the set

An Entire LEGO World in a Box

I was skeptical about purchasing this set after it was first revealed. Boy am I glad I went ahead and got it.
This set is the type of set I would dream about as a child, there is so much going on and to get so many cool parts in one set is incredible.
The building experience is never repetitive, made even more enjoyable by the notes in the instruction margins.
The finished product is one of the most impressive, if not the most impressive, LEGO models I have ever seen. The pictures really do not do it justice! Again I was skeptical about this set but now I am head over heels in love with it!
If you’re a fan of LEGO, especially LEGO castle, get this set. It is well worth every penny.

Lots of fun details

Got this for my son’s 13th birthday and he LOVED building it. All of the little details that you see as you build it are really cool. I just wish LEGO sets weren’t becoming so ridiculously expensive.
