I love the watch but not happy with the latest software update that removed the display option to leave the last app on when it goes into screen saver. This was a bad idea, especially for cycling or running apps because now we have to divert our attention from the environment to navigate back to the app to get our heartrate or mileage. Somebody is going to crash or fall and sue samsung over this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Howdy Scotty, Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us about your experience using the Samsung Galaxy Watch8. We appreciate your candor as we make every effort to improve the design and functionality of our product line. Samsung provides a 12-month warranty on our products for manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Your Galaxy Watch8 isn't all cogs and gears, it's wires, processors, data chips, and software! Just like with any other smart device, the watch's software and apps will need to be updated every so often. Luckily, you can update both whether or not you have a phone! If you encounter some issues when updating your watch’s software and apps, you can try rebooting or restarting your watch. For example, if a software update fails and results in a boot loop of your watch, you may need to uninstall apps or try factory resetting your watch. This method also works when an app fails to update, freezes, or crashes. Please feel free to check out the resources shared below to help resolve what you've described to be experiencing with your device. Thank you for being a valued Samsung customer. - Debra

This device, along with my recently purchased Samsung S26 Ultra, make a powerful Galaxy AI combination with the Samsung Health app. The trusty Galaxy Watch 8 on my wrist does so many things, too many to list here, and I use it pretty much all day. At night I use the Sleep score and Energy score tracking and review those in the morning. These are very in-depth reports that you get 24/7. I fire up the Walking program with GPS and take a brisk 25 minute walk in the early AM. Around midday I hit the gym and use both the Weight machines program for a 40 minute weight session, then follow that with 25 minutes of cardio using the Bike indoor program. Yet another cool feature is I can use the NFC to connect via Wi-Fi to my gym’s fitness bike, and it tracks the cadence RPM, MPH, pulse rate, average heart rate, distance, power, and 1 mile split times and speed, heart rate zones, all recorded to the Samsung Health app. Then after the gym I can keep track of my total steps, current weather and forecast, and outdoor UV. Not to mention all the notifications and apps you can pick and choose to receive. You can get text messages, phone calls, email, even talk to Gemini via the built-in speaker (so you have Galaxy AI on your wrist!).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been wearing the Galaxy Watch for a while now and it has completely changed how I think about health tracking. The fitness monitoring is incredibly accurate — heart rate, sleep tracking, and activity data all feel reliable and actionable. I actually use the insights it gives me to make real decisions about my recovery and daily routine. Galaxy AI takes it to another level. Having intelligent features built right into the watch makes it feel less like a gadget and more like a personal health assistant on my wrist. Battery life has been a pleasant surprise. I'm not constantly hunting for a charger, which was a dealbreaker with previous wearables I've owned. The build quality is also excellent — it feels premium and durable without being bulky. If you're on the fence about a smartwatch, this one earns it. Highly recommend.
