Got a new electric kettle for my dorm!

Have not yet used, but seems good quality. I love the compactness, especially as storage space in my dorm is limited. Super excited for all the late night cups of tea and early morning cups of coffee this baby’s going to brew :)

Smells of rotten eggs on first boil

I rinsed it our upon boxing the electric kettle. As i stood watching it heat up, i noticed a faint smell of rotten eggs emitting from the kettle. As the water comes to a roaring boil the smell grows stronger. I immediately discard the water, washed it with dawn soap and now the water smells normal.
Im slick scared of the chemicals coated on it.
