smart pasta and noodle maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been meaning to get my mom an automated pasta and noodle maker but being in her 70's she can't handle a complicated kitchen machinery. The Philips pasta maker to the rescue. It's super easy to use- you add flour, start the machine, it will knead the dough, then add water, and voila out comes pasta in spaghetti, fettuccine or penne shape. The machine also is a reasonable weight and is narrow so has a smaller footprint than other machines I have seen. Great for anyone who would like to make home made pasta/noodles.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Having fun making pasta!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works very well. I wanted to make my own whole wheat pasta using white whole wheat flour. My first try following the recipe for whole wheat pasta was to wet and would not extrude. I then read that white whole wheat does not need as much moisture, so I followed the recipe for white flour and it worked perfectly. I am so happy and have tried the lasagna disc and it worked very well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this pasta maker almost weekly and I do think the pasta tastes better than dried boxed pasta, plus it’s fun. The component parts are very sturdy, easy to clean and everything is well thought out. My only reason for 4 stars is that I bought the extra pasta discs and both the lasagna noodle and the other wife noodle disc both would not allow dough to extrude.

Great product but cheap parts

I am a big fan of this pasta maker. It's super easy to make fresh pasta. I have been using this about once a week since I received it about 20 months ago, and will never go back to store bought pasta. My only complaint with this product the poor quality of the mixing chamber lid. It is very prone to breaking during normal use, thus rendering the pasta maker unusable. After 8 months of use the back of the lid (which goes into the machine) broke off when I was closing the lid. Since I was under warranty, I was sent a new lid. After 11 months the clip on the front of the new lid broke off when I was closing it. Since the machine was no longer under warranty, I was forced to buy spare the spare lids myself. I purchased three, hopefully that will last me a couple years. If I had to make this purchase again, I would get the larger version of Philip's Pasta Makers to avoid having to repeatedly buy replacement lids.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to assemble, use and clean!

[Employee of philipsglobal] I just made my first batch of spaghetti with the Viva pasta maker and it was great! I used one 200g cup of King Arthur pasta flour (a durum/semolina/white flour mix) plus 1 egg and enough water to reach the 75g mark on the provided measuring cup. Perfect! We will probably eat a lot more pasta now.

Broke on the second try. Shame since I’ve used Philips products and they work great. I hope I just got a lemon that slipped through the QC cracks. Will see if I can use the warranty to get a new one and try again.

Easy to use!

If you are a first timer, this is the machine for you! Plug-in, pour the ingredients, and poof! Fresh pasta in 3 minutes! My kids love watching the machine work, it helps me made them eat their dinner being that they were involved in the process. Goodluck to me now because they will ask for more spaghetti dinners!!!
