Decent Tamp Needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received in exchange for review. Great at making espresso, has a bit of a learning curve when trying to froth milk, pretty easy to use overall. The only real issue is the item they give you to measure and Tamp doesn't Tamp too well, and if you do have a tamping tool it can't be packed firmly. Other than those small issues, it's a great little espresso machine.

At first the machine seems complex but once you make a few drinks, it becomes second nature. My only issue with this machine is how difficult the portafilter is to remove even after several uses.

Easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine isn’t a super fancy espresso machine with a bunch of bells and whistles. It doesn’t have a sleek modern look or fancy functions like being able to control temperatures or apps for your phone. It does however make basic pulls of espresso and froths milk. You can make a variety of coffee house drinks at home with this machine. Because it is a scaled down simple machine it is super easy to use and to clean afterwards. It is compact in design and matches other Mr. Coffee appliances like coffee pots and Mr. Coffee Frappe. Influenster sent this to me to try and I am grateful. I may even buy a few as gifts for friends.

Intimidating, yet Rewarding Coffee Experience

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First and foremost, this machine is pretty small and doesn’t take up a lot of space at all, which is very convenient for infrequent espresso enjoyers like me. It comes with a convenient water measuring pitcher, measuring scoop and stainless steel frothing pitcher; everything you need to get started, short of the coffee grounds and a mug! It definitely has a learning curve to use, and it’s a little bit of fun and a little bit scary. I can imagine it’ll be some time, learning, patience, and practice to really get the process down. On our first attempt, we tried making a cappuccino, which takes a considerable number of steps to complete. However we didn’t end up making enough milk foam, so it turned out more like a latte. Instructions weren’t super clear about how much milk to put in the pitcher, so we kind of winged it. It’d be great to have an instructional YouTube video to go along with the manual.
Making a drink this way is certainly an experience, and there’s a lot to keep in mind. The portafilter is hard to lock into place, but absolutely necessary to do all the way for safety, the water takes quite a bit of time to heat up, and then you need to be careful about having everything in place before steaming the milk. It requires a lot of attention afterward as well, making sure to unplug the machine, turn the knob to steam to release pressure, and only then you can slowly open up the water reservoir. Despite our struggles learning how to do it all, our first drink turned out very tasty! I’m sure it’ll be a nice mindful experience to practice every so often, and nothing will beat an espresso when I just want to inject some caffeine immediately. Overall it’s a good basic espresso maker that helped introduce us into this world of making our own cafe drinks!

i love getting my caffeine fix at home!

Mr. Coffee: fancy style

For a total espresso-making noob, this was easy to use! And I felt really fancy in doing so, but yet I was in my kitchen. My only complaint is that I wish the water reservoir was larger. Great way to level up your at-home coffee brewing.

The directions are easy to follow. I love that I can brew up to four shots at once! The frother works great! It’s so convenient that you get a scoop, metal pitcher and measured water pitcher! It makes a great latte!
