Okay, I told you I would come back for an update. I was determined to make this machine work. I knew it had potential and I wanted to see it! I figured it out and love every bit of this product. I have made tons of angel hair pasta and it was super simple and delicious. When I say super simple...I mean it. It took a bit to get used to with the weighing system, but I don't know if it just saw my determination, but it works! Keep trying and you will not be sorry! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

Perfect pasta in minutes.

This is the first time I have ever used a pasta maker, and am still amazed on how easy I can make any pasta that I want. So far, I have made fettuccine, spaghetti, and ramen noodles without any issues. It took a few tries, but I could also successfully make gluten-free pasta! I sometimes added in some superfoods like bee pollen, beet powder, turmeric, and chlorophyll in the mixture just for a little extra boost in nutrition ( And to make the food a little more fun and interesting for the kids!). Clean up is also easy, all I needed to do was to take out the barrel, the mixer, and the face plate and throw them all in the dishwasher. You'll have so much fun with this machine, and save so much money in the process. Definitely recommended, this is a must have!

Makes good pasta

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pasta machine makes really great tasting pasta. It does take some time to get used to using the automatic scale though. You really need to pay attention when you’re adding the flour and ingredients. Once you get that down though, the rest of the process is easy. Make sure to clean it right after using so the dough doesn’t harden on it.

It's so easy to use and produces such an amazing, healthy product. We will never buy pasta from the store again! Seriously on the top of my list of recommendations!!!

Nothing like Fresh Pasta!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I never knew how good fresh pasta can be. This Philips Avance Collection Pasta Maker makes making fresh pasta a breeze. This machine does it all for you. Just add the ingredients. First off, I have to say this machine is so well made. All the parts are a high quality plastic or metal. The entire cavity that the dough touches can be disassembled and cleaned. There is also a bottom drawer to hold 5 extra pasta shaping discs; I love that. I am a neat freak and I love that everything can be kept together.

Great machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This maker is essential if you want to make your own pasta. I recently am new to making my own pasta and wanted something to help me flourish. I love making my own types of foods and learning new techniques and ways. I will say that there is definitely a learning curve to this but once you get into a groove its simple. It does take a bit to clean but as I have learned in the past...most things like this do. But once you taste your fresh batch of pasta you will realize that it is so worth it. You can clearly tell a huge difference between making your own. Just so much richer in flavor and you can make your own unique flavors. I do suggest buying your own kitchen weight and going by your own measurements, this will save you a lot of time. All in all a great addition to any kitchen

I had no idea there was even a machine capable of doing all that this one does. Everything is explained really well in the operations guide- which is a huge help. It’s so easy to actually use, my children love to help me make pasta. They love the options of types of pasta that we can make. And I love that we can create memories together. Delicious memories!! This is a fun family activity and next level with the quality of pasta it provides. Easy to clean. Easy to use. I can’t say enough good things.

Time saver!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using a hand cranked pasta maker for years, and love it, other than the fact that I am limited on the shapes I can make. So I was hesitant that a machine would mix and spit out a quality pasta in such a little time. I mean my regular pasta is finessed, and rested, and rolled again and again in layers to build texture. Could this really compare.... why yes, yes it can! I was pleasantly surprised! You put in the flour ( i used the amounts listed in the book and weighed it first) and then it tells you how much water to put in. You push a button or two and it mixes for 3 mins and then out comes the fully formed pasta like magic! The first time I thought there was no way it would work because it looked so crumbly, but it comes together. It comes out at a steady pace, but not so fast that you can't keep up with cutting it in the lengths you want. I found that cooking it for 4-5 mins (whole wheat pasta) is perfect for us. It has a nice texture and great taste!
There are a couple minor flaws though. The measuring system is um... confusing. The numbers in the book are in grams, which is what most folks use to weigh flour. But then the machine measures a cup.. but it's not a cup known to any system I am aware of. A cup of flour weighs 120 grams in real life, but the machine measures a cup of flour at 250 grams? This isn't an issue if you aware of it, or use a scale to weigh it, but I can see it being very confusing for non bakers or beginner cooks. Also the recipes in the book could use some work. It lists the same amount of water for whole wheat flour as it does for white, when it is pretty common knowledge that whole wheat requires more liquid. The first pasta I made following the book came out very dry. I was able to adjust it the next time and it came out well though. These are minor issues though.
All in all, I love my Phillips Avance Pasta Maker! It takes more time to clean it than it does to make the pasta, but cleaning it isn't that bad either as long as you do it in a timely manner. It's definitely better than lugging out my hand crank system on a day when I just want fresh pasta on a weeknight! I can see this handy machine being a staple in my kitchen for many years to come!
