So easy to use and lots of projects to make

I am new to the cutting and vinyl crafting, but I have been wanting to get into it with my first machine. The hardest thing about the Brother ScanNCut DX SDX125E Electronic DIY Cutting Machine with Scanner was getting it out of the box and even that was easy enough. The instructions are simple to follow and walks through every step to get this set up. It includes a pen insert and blade insert to make the designs. The touch screen is intuitive and makes everything a cinch to operate. I love that it includes 682 patterns plus I can create my own. This comes with one project as a tutorial, which is a little gift basket and it is so cute. I love it! So far I have made some Valentine's Day decorations and some lettering to put on a window. I know I will be addicted to using this as soon as I get more supplies to do all the projects I have in mind and more!

Crafting Made Easy

I’ve never been a crafty person, despite my attempts. I was really excited and nervous to use this product, but it had been a true delight. Right out of the box, it was incredibly user friendly to set up. Everything was ready to go within ten minutes. The instructions were really clear to start and interactive which helps a hands on learner like myself. Cutting is really easy and so much fun especially for a beginner like me. Once I started I couldn't stop. I love being able to wirelessly transfer files from my computer to my machine, and I can make small edits after transfer on the touch screen area of the machine.

I absolutely love this scan and cut.
I love that it has a built in scanner to scan my drawings and its touch screen.
It has patterns and custom designs and its wireless.
It has an auto blade it measures the thickness by a sensor that detects what size to cut.

Fun for all ages.

I spend a lot of time with my grandkids doing crafts and art projects so this is a great addition for diversifying our project options. We plan to design homemade valentines this year!

I love the thoughtful technology they’ve put into saving several basic patterns directly to the machine. This means you don’t always have to fuss with your computer just to get simple things cut. While I haven’t cut anything aside from paper, I am excited to test out the auto blade on other materials.

Time to be creative

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brother Scanner I got is the Grey Titanium color. It is compact in size which is really great for storage. It does not take up a lot of space. The scanner comes with all of the instructions for making the included project step by step. The instructions are really easy to follow. The machine is very responsive to any action requested to take. In order to draw the design on a project the ink is inserted into the scanner. If cutting is needed the ink needs to be swapped out with the cutter. All of these items can be stored neatly within the front of the machine. The design projects are endless. It is limited by a persons creativity and imagination.

Great product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the Brother ScanNCut SDX125E. The machine came with a cardstock project as an introduction to the cutter. It was easy to complete the project by following the instructions, and it turned out nice. The cutter itself is pretty easy to set up and to use, but I had a very hard time downloading the free workspace software that Brother promotes (I was able to use the web version of the program and to register an account). I could not find a link to download the file on the Brother site, but eventually found a direct link on a blogger's site. Once that was installed on my laptop, I quickly figured out how to create a design on my laptop and have it exported to the cutter. Using additional fonts was easy as well. As a first time user of cutting machine, I wish the user manual was more detailed about how to cut vinyl vs cardstock, half cuts, etc., but I think if you already have this knowledge or look up tutorials online it will be very easy to use. I still wish I had a decent manual (without needing to download it or look to YouTube videos) that walked me through crafting several different projects. The autoblade does, indeed, detect the pressure needed for different materials! I like that I can quickly make and print labels and installed designs right from the scanner/cutter. The led touch screen makes it all so easy. It comes with a little stylus, but the screen responds to my finger just fine, albeit a little pressure is required with either method. The included designs are great, the machine is quiet, and the cuts are clean.

Many capabilities of machine, problems with mat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was amazed by the amount of features this Brother Scan n’ Cut has, and I love that there are preloaded designs on the machine itself unlike other paper cutting machines I have used. There is a large selection of preloaded designs, and they can be resized to fit your needs for your project. It is a bit difficult to get the hang of using the small computer screen but after a few attempts and rereading the instructions I understood how to operate. My major issue with this machine is the provided cutting mat, it comes with the high tacky mat and I would’ve preferred a mat with less stickiness to it. I tried using the provided piece of paper in the box, and had no issues. However, when I used card stock it stuck to the mat so I boiled some water and steamed the mat to remove the paper residue. I learned from that point to always test the paper first in the corner before laying down the entire sheet. I found that shiny scrapbook paper works best with this particular mat since it is highly sticky, I’m hoping after more use it will lose some of its tackiness so I can use other papers. I am also unsure of how long a mat will last, because it seems somewhat thin and not very durable for numerous projects. Also, since the mat is highly sticky it makes it rather tedious to remove intricate pieces from a project once it’s done cutting, I am going to stick to more simple designs until the mat loses some tackiness to avoid ripping projects with intricate details. All in all, I am impressed by all this machine can do and look forward to continue learning more about how to use it and make lots of projects.
