Unfortunately, this unit lacked sufficient power, leaked, held insufficient water for a flossing, and the head piece button was too close to the on /off switch. I sent it back and got the Aquarius model which works fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello - Thank you for your feedback. Although the pressure on the WP-580 is not as strong as our countertop models, it is still effective. We are glad to hear that the Aquarius model is working well for you. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Not powerful enough. Stalls in between some of my teeth.

The waterpik is more effective than floss at removing food particles but is VERY messy to use.

Hello Bob Co. - There is definitely a trick to it. We have found the best advice we can give is to place the flosser in your mouth prior to turning it on, then make sure you look down into your sink as you go; keep your mouth slightly open so water can drain into the sink. Here's a link to a quick video that demonstrates this: https://youtu.be/l02dBOdOxtU
But I’ll let you know when I see my dental hygienist in another five months whether the Water Pik actually did its job in reducing plaque, as she assured me it would. I’m not exactly clear what a few of the attachments are for, though.
Let’s just say I was apprehensive of a dental device that claims to clean your teeth as good as a dental hygienist. Well, by day two, I was sold! Simply amazing. There is a learning curve, and tend to use it while showering- no mess. Until I used it at the sink, and forgot to turn it off, and pik’ed the mirror!! Oops. I do wish the reservoir was bigger, as it tends to need filled 3/4 through the cleaning. After a week of use, I’m excited to hear how my next dental cleaning goes, instead of dread.
