Cumbersome profile

I replaced my 20 year old Vitamix with the Vitamix VX1. As I use the blender primarily for my morning smoothie, I don't even fill a quarter of the 64 oz container. As a result it is cumbersome and harder to handle day-to-day compared to standard-sized containers. The "wash" speed leaves some residue in the container so cleaning it takes more effort and attention than I expected.
Also, while it does blend well eventually, I’ve found I need to run it at the highest speed to get a consistently smooth blend.

Hi, please know that we always recommend taking the machine to its highest speed within the first 5-7 seconds of blending. I am not very happy with how quickly this overheats. I tried to blend a few batches of smoothies in a row and it overheats and stops working, which is very frustrating. Even my ninja doesn’t do this, and I was hoping the Vitamix would at least be able to keep up with it.

Hello! Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was about to overheat. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. This is one powerful blender. I am not sure why I waited so long except that I do not cook a lot and I figured I didn’t need one this good. When my old one started spitting out tiny pieces of plastic, that was it! I recently went through surgery and was making smoothies more than usual and decided to upgrade instead of settling for mediocre.

When it runs, the blender is strong. It shuts down midway through blending. Then after 5-10 min will run again. Ive checked power source. The plunger does NOT encounter chunky material. Items are cubed and added slowly.

We had a more expensive Vitamix for 15 years. When it finally stopped working, we knew we only wanted another Vitamix. With finances tighter, we opted for a less expensive option in this one, but the power and ease are all still there. It works perfectly for our needs--we love it!
