I bought this to run dvd's for a church bible study and it hung up half way thru the second dvd. Fortunately the church had a standard dvd player in the fellowship hall and this did not create a problem.

Good DVD Option

This is a good option for me to use DVDs and CDs with my new Ideapad because it doesnt have a built-in drive. It is a great size, very slim and sleek. Drawbacks are it is definitely plastic, and doesn't feel too sturdy. I would have preferred that it was the kind where you push the DVD in, but this one has a tray that pops out, it just all feels very fragile and I am worried about breaking it. To watch a DVD movie, be ready to do some trouble shooting because this hardware does not come with playback software, and it is a challenge to get software working with windows 10.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

That's about all I could say about it. It's hooked up to my Lenovo lap-top. It wasn't easy to set up although thinking that it would be seeing how both are made by the same company. The included disc really didn't seem to e as I had to get another app to get it to work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a couple of other branded external CD/DVD players for my computer since it does not have an internal drive. Both times there were problems and they had to be returned. I finally purchased the Lenovo recommended unit and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Hooked it up and loaded the software for the unit without a hitch. I hihjly recommend staying with the Lenovo branded accessories.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this because the computers no longer have the DVD drive built in to the laptops. This drive helped me download all my 48G of music from my CD's to my laptop. I know everyone is into streaming their music but I am still old school and have cd's. Without this portable drive this would never have gotten into my computer and yes I still use DVD's for movies.
