My wife and I first bought the S80 because we were curious how our perceived tolerance (or intolerance) of alcohol translated to BAC. For instance, would two glasses of wine at dinner put us near the legal limit even though we felt fine? We now use the S80 regularly and have a much better understanding of where our limits are and are thus much more responsible. Everyone should know their limits and the S80 gives you the data to understand those limits.
Product replaces cheaper, unreliable products bought at local store. Gives accurate data every time, easy to carry and use. A real deterrent for residents who think they are going to sneak in under our noses!
I was never sure after meeting friends for drinks where I was on a scale of being legally intoxicated. I use this device to drive home legally but I also give it margin for error even though I am confident that it is as accurate as the manufacturer claims it is. I now can drive home with no "paranoia".
I got this device AFTER my first (and last!!) DUI. I was quite amazed at my BAC after a few drinks and the time it took to be "safe" again. No more guessing or (ir)rationalizing how long its been between drinks or how much "water" you may have drank between drinks. The device is in my truck at all times even though I drink so much less than before the arrest. I just can't afford to to slip up. When use of the device was offered to friends and even strangers, they were surprised too at their BAC. One major suggestion. though. The device's instructions suggest waiting 20 minutes after your last drink before taking a measurement. I strongly suggest you wait at least 45 minutes or more. Doing so may be inconvenient but you'll get a more accurate reading.
The S80 works well. Please note you need to blow only about 1/3 full force for 5 secs. Once you get it right it is easy to use.It answered my question how much can you drink and be legal? A half bottle of wine will put a average man at about .02, well under the limit (Ont. Canada .05).Three drinks would be safe, four borderline. It also showed me that the old limit .08 was way too high, thats about 6 or 7 drinks and you are drunk and shouldn't be driving!
I like to know I'm safe to drive after a couple of drinks. If I'm not, I let my wife drive or call a cab. Your product provides me an objective, accurate assessment of my blood alcohol level so I can make the best-informed choices. It's a GREAT product. Easy, accurate, fast. I've tried others and this one is, by far, the best!
