Great value and design!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were looking for our first tent for our family of four. Based on recommendations of others we decided to go big to ensure plenty of space. Great call! Lots of room, excellent layout, and bathtub seams keep out water and bugs. During the day we stack air mattresses to make a sofa and open even more space. Would definitely recommend!

Spacious and "homey"

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've used this tent as our home away from home at least two dozen times or so and it has been a blessing each time. Set-up is quick and easy. The "D" door is a wish come true! It eliminates the cumbersome zipper when you need to come and go frequently, but still keeps the bugs out, then just zip it closed when you are ready to settle in. The high ceiling is a must for my husband who is 6 foot tall and still has plenty of room to spare. All in all this has been one of our favorite Coleman purchases so far. Price, quality and ease of use are all rolled into one great product. Keep up the great work Coleman!

1st time out 3 of the four tent poles broke.

Was taking the grandson hunting and tent failed first timr out, Not only did poles fail but tent now has holes in it from when the poles broke.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

after 2 years, tent is STILL in PERFECT condition!

So far, this tent has lasted 5 trips including camping 3 days in windy Wyoming, and a severe thunderstorm in Colorado. Here's what we've done that's managed to keep our Montana 8 like new: (1) always stake down the tent and use the rainfly (2) put a ground tarp under tent (3) Relax, and take your time with set up/take down (ignore Coleman's silly claim of "15 minutes") and expect at least 30 minutes minimum (4) When threading poles through slots, be patient and gentle (not rough or in a hurry) . Use your hand to gently feed tent material over pole as you inch pole through, and then PULL (not push) the pole out the other end (5) don't stake guylines with excessive tension (6) don't be forceful with zippers (if any of your staked guylines put noticeable tension near seams, OR zippers are reluctant to zip: push on tent wall, or pull tent fabric in the same direction you plan to move zipper, all the while keeping an eye on tent fabric so you don't blindly cause a snag)... These 6 tips have literally kept our tent looking like new, and performing like a champ. Bottom Line: be good to this tent and it will be good to you!

Great Tent

Tent is very durable. We used it when it was literally pouring down rain and we stayed dry. The seams did gather some water and eventually made puddles in the corners of the tent but nothing a little waterproof spray on the seams couldn't fix. The pole for the door broke on the second trip out... Other than that great tent.

Exceeded All Expectations

I purchased the blue and black Montana 8-person tent. I took my family (2 adults, 2 children (3 and 5)) up to the forest for the week in July. On Tuesday night we encountered what was deemed a minor microburst. Wind, Rain, Lightening, Thunder. The kids slept through the whole thing! This tent is awesome. We did not experience any water leakage inside, nor did we encounter anything that broke on the tent. This tent has two pouches on each end for storage, and thats about it. We were able to fit two queen mattresses, two totes, and a couple smaller totes inside with a ton of room to spare. This tent is an absolute unit when it comes to space. The ceiling inside is very high, which makes changing clothes easy. The door is one of the neatest things i've seen in a tent, it zippers up and has velcro incase you are going in and out. Set up of this tent is fast and simple. Took my wife and i 8 minutes to set up, and a little bit longer to tear down due to pulling stakes out. I recommend bringing an oscilating desk fan to keep the air flow moving in the tent. You wont regret buying this tent!

Easy setup, good design, but.....

This is a good tent for the family, lots of room and a good rain fly that keeps it dry. However, the first one the door brackets failed but the the tent was replaced 100%. my only realy complaint is the ends where the rainfly doesn't cover allow water in when it rains.

I arrived late in Colorado and found myself setting up for the first time in the dark. It went great! Easy set up and plenty of room! The Montana handled the light to moderate winds and rain of Buena Vista without a hitch!
