Bissell spot cleaner

I just removed this from thebox to clean up a few small stains in my carpet. Two were pet messes one was some sort of dripping spots. And the last was makeup that got smeared into the carpet by a messy teenage girl. The spot lifter cleaned every stain without fail. At this point I am very happy with this spot lifter. If it fails in the near furture I will change my review. But for now I am very happy with my bissell.

malfunctioned on first use

The first, and only, time that I used this carpet cleaner, 1) the stair-cleaning tool broke, 2) the recovery tank needed to be emptied after only a few minutes' use, and 3) the machine leaked after the recovery tank was emptied.

Pros and Cons

I'm happy with the machines ability to apply cleaner, scrub and suction the waste up leaving a clean or cleaner area depending on the severity of the mess. I am unhappy that to employ the machine now, I keep it on a boot tray when I turn it on to catch the wastewater the fan is blowing out from underneath it. This is a repeat observation from several other users. There appears to be a seating issue with the wastewater tank. I'm am also displeased with the inability to breakdown the machine more for cleaning. There are no quick-connect couplings to permit effective cleaning (soaking or scrubbing) of the hose. In summary, the machine can clean effectively, but it can also possibly create more mess than it is cleaning. Depending on the filth you are cleaning, you may need to run several litres of clean hot water (or water and bleach) to clean the machine. NEVER LEAVE DIRTY MATERIAL IN THE MACHINE it will cause near-permanent deposits within the hose and terrible aromas from the machine. Hopefully this issues will be rectified in 2016 and newer models.

Cleans well, but with some issues

The machine cleans well, however, the hose is flimsey and tore after some regular use. The hose is not user replaceabke and we had to take it to an authorized repair facility and that cost $100! Also, the solution tank leaks, just a little, but be sure to store the machine on a towel when not in use.

needs removable hose

The only problem I have with this is that I cannot take the hose off to rinse out the animal hair that my regular vacuum did not get before I used the spot cleaner. Otherwise happy. Not sure how much longer it will last with all the hair in the hose. i wish i had bought the bigger machine.

Hi Maria - try suctioning up some clean water from a bowl - this'll help to remove any trapped hair and debris in the hose!

Do not waste your money

I bought this model without doing any research. I chose it because the box promised Heatwave Technology. I was not impressed with the Proheat nor with the suction. The water was lukewarm out of the machine. The box definitely gave me the impression that the machine heated the water during use. I could have sprayed hot water on the stain myself and simply used a towel to absorb the water after cleaning. I spent more time rinsing and cleaning the machine after use than I did cleaning the spot. I only used it once but unfortunately, I did not look up the return policy promptly and have exceeded the 30 days.

Really pleased with the spot cleaner. Instead of pulling out the big Bissell cleaner, this works fine on the little pet accidents. Great price too.

Bad design

Aesthetically this machine looks very pretty however it's looks are very deceiving! The very large reservoirs on either end of the machine actually have very little capacity. The large waste reservoir is considered full and shuts the machine off when it's only about one quarter full of fluid. The remaining three quarters of space is just air. This makes the machine look like it has much higher capacity than it actually does. This is their worst design so far!
