WAS my favorite case. But they changed it :( It no longer has the raised grippy silicone. It's all plastic now so it's not as grippy. It slides off my nightstand as it's no longer grippy on the back. Very disappointing. I have been using the speck presidio case for years and am very disappointed with this design change. It still protects my phone well, but it's no longer as grippy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I think the product offers good grip, good shielding and is quite thin. Physically it doesn't seem ugly to me but that's more personal.
