Howdy Gary, Thanks for taking the time to reach out about your experience using the Samsung Galaxy Watch8. We appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve the functionality and performance of our product line. While some Samsung watches can be set up and used without a phone, all of them can be used with the Galaxy Wearable app on a compatible phone. To make the most out of your watch or even navigate its settings on a bigger screen, it is recommended that you pair your watch to a compatible phone. If your watch will not pair to a phone, or if it randomly disconnects, restart your watch. You should also make sure the Galaxy wearable app is up to date, but it may be necessary to reset the app and unpair your watch. Please feel free to check out the resources shared below to help resolve what you may be experiencing with your setup. If you have any questions for us or if you would like any further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to Samsung Support. Thanks for choosing Samsung! - Debra

I started with the OG Galaxy Gear and have had several since then . My favorite all time will always be the Gear S1 . That being said it was far from their best performing model . When this first came out I was going to skip it because my Ultra and GW6 are doing great . I got such a great deal I decided to try it out and I'm so glad I did . It feels like the Active 2 lightweight but the flat side of the Ultra design helps it feel smaller when my hand is bent way back. With a round offering it the watch can punch my skin . The sensors being almost flush is a very refreshing change from my last purchases. The screen is supposed to be the same but honestly it seems sharper and more crisp , especially the black . It's also snappier than the 7 and Ultra that I own . Battery life is better than my 7 but , of course , not as good as the Ultra . Wear 6 seems clunky and unpolished on the Ultra but seems made just for the 8. To anyone deciding whether or not to go 7 or 8 , the 8 blows away my GW7 and that's not taking anything away from the GW7
In the short time i have had it...it is a well put together and light weight watch. It integrated with my phone and apps very well. Connection to my phone and to my cell provider was seamless. I still have alot to learn about it...just taking it one day at a time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the wifi version, so using Gemini AI does not seem to be available. I tried. Battery life if better than the previous generation. Samsung offers great deals to trade in an old watch. I trade every year. Dig deep in the settings for some cool features and custom button functions. Touch sensitivity on the key pad is lacking. It will not pick up my slightly calloused finger. I have to use my ring finger instead. Great, lightweight watch for sleep monitoring. Old watch chargers no longer work with the new watch. Yes, I'd buy it again.
Loving it so far! It actually feels like a real upgrade something we haven’t seen in phones or watches for quite a while. The design feels lighter on the wrist, more refined, and the improvements are noticeable day to day. It’s not just a spec bump; it genuinely feels fresh.
