Not advertised size

We bought this for a 4.5 quart crock pot, but the first time I used it, I couldn't fit my ingredients in it! When I measured its capacity I found when filled to the brim it holds 3 quarts, 2.5 cups. That's a half cup less than a full quart small! I asked a question about that in the questions section below and was told the glaze might reduce the capacity somewhat. I sincerely doubt there are 3.5 cups of glaze on the inside of the stoneware! I guess like everything else, the company shrinks the product and hopes consumers won't notice.

Didn't reach adequate temperature
on August 9, 2021

When the glaze on my 30-year-old Crockpot liner showed signs of breaking down, I bought this model. Unfortunately, I did not temp test it before I used it. Big mistake. When the temp of my food was barely at 200º after 6 hours at HIGH, I knew there was a problem with the machine, and moved the food to the oven to finish. After cooling and cleaning the unit, I tested the new and old cookers with water. After 4 hours on HIGH, the new model was just inching up to 200, with no evidence of simmering, while the old one registered 300º and was bubbling nicely. The store quickly refunded the cost of the cooker, with instructions to keep, give away, or donate the item; but I shudder to think of anyone cooking a meal in it for hours on low. So, I will just keep the liner and use it in the oven. But, a word to the wise: temp test your slow cooker with water before using it to make sure it can be used safely.

Lettering for temperature came off

I purchased about two years ago. The lettering has worn off and I have to guess at the temperatures. Are there and decals that I can purchase with the heating designations, to place back on the unit. Otherwise I really enjoy using my crockpot for many types of meals.

Have used this baby for years. just fill it up with your favorite dish, add water ( I add a envelope McCormick stew power) or stock , set on low and walk away .. for me its a nap. When you get back from work ..say 8 hours you open the door and you smell heaven .. get out that bowl and go to town. Its a great healthy no fuss meal. In the winter I put the rest in the garage and start it over the next day with a bit more goodies. Clean up is no problem, just take the ceramic bowl out, fill with water and a bit of dish soap. The next day empty and it just about spotless.

Missing information about power rating
on November 23, 2020

I bought the Corckpot Classic $.5 QT Slowcooker.
Wanted to know about the power consumption of the heating element.
Surprised that this important information is not available both on the package or the Owners guide..
Please let me know the power rating,
Response from crock-pot.comBy Crock-PotConsumer CareNovember 24, 2020
Hey there, Sajid! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. Slow cookers use 120 volts AC which range from 0.6 amps to 2 amps and consume electricity that ranges from 70 watts (low temperature) to 250 watts (high temperature). We hope this information helps. Thank you and please stay safe.

Not so great

Lid rattles when the steam builds up. Crock doesn’t sit level in base. The soup I made boiled in a few hours using low setting when I should have been able to let it slowly cook longer on low.

My wife and I LOVE this thing but somehow the chord slowly damaged over the past few months and suddenly a spark this morning. There is no replacement power chord for model SCR450-HX. That sucks!
Otherwise it does what its supposed to do. Is there a way to replace the power chord on this model?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a Christmas gift I got last year, I used twice and I am very disappointed. It took over 12 hours to cook a roast.... I own two other ones, larger sizes that are great. This one is a total disappointment.
