Let me begin by saying this is my first less than excellent experience with a Rada product, and I’ve been buying them for years, including peelers. However, this peeler is “adequate” at best. It’s not sharp and is a chore to use. I have 2 other regular (not “Deluxe”) Rada peelers that are over 10 years old and still work fine, but the brushed aluminum handles badly oxidized from years of being washed in the dishwasher and were getting black on the food when wet (Note: Rada does recommend hand washing) so I was replacing with the black handle (not as pretty but more functional for me) and thought the “Deluxe” might be quicker since it was larger. I guess I’ll be dragging my old ones back out.
I had an old one for years and am having a little trouble getting used to this one. Luckily I did not throw away the old one while I get used to the new one
My mom and my grandmother had these growing up and I didn’t know where they had gotten them. While they are still sharp and work great I was worried about finding a replacement should anything happen
If you’re going to spend a little more money for quality, you will never regret buying the Rada deluxe vegetable peeler. I bought this peeler roughly 25 years ago from someone doing a fundraiser. Best bang for my buck I’ve ever gotten on a kitchen utensil! 25 years later it still peels like a dream. If it ever breaks or goes on walkabout I wouldn’t even consider buying a different brand.
