I debated adding another kitchen gadget, but this little Whynter ice cream maker is totally worth it. The absolute best feature is the built-in compressor—no pre-freezing a bowl! You just pour your mix in and you've got ice cream in about 30 to 40 minutes.
It’s definitely a "personal" size (0.8 quarts), so it only makes about two servings. It won't feed a crowd, but it barely takes up any counter space, and the removable stainless steel bowl is super easy to clean.
If you want to whip up a quick batch on a whim without planning a day in advance, it's perfect. Highly recommend!
