Ok so I have wanted a handheld for along time.
And I have to say I love this . Ok so I'm not a fanboy of windows or Xbox. This won me over because of the Apu in it , 16g of ram is pretty standard for gaming (yes I know it's shared for cpu/gpu)
Choose this over a steam deck and other competitors, because it's a great value , seriously it's always on sale somewhere.
I'm running Steam games , Epic games, and Gog games. So the windows was a bonus for me (I uninstalled and striped out every mention of copilot and AI )
You can dock it as a computer with keyboard and mouse on a monitor if you want ( with some extra accessories - I used a usb-c to USB hub that has HDMI out)
And if you want to throw bazzite or other Linux you can and may get better fps, but again for me I use epic games and Gog aswell and they are not as perfect on Linux.
Seriously a huge fan ,

Learning curve but worth the work

I picked up the Ally expecting to mostly have it be used to stream games from the cloud, but it's a surprisingly capable machine.
It does take some time to get comfortable with the many layers of operation here, and switching between storefronts can be a chore at times - but to have Steam, Epic, GoG, and Xbox all available to me on one handheld platform is really worth putting in the effort. Fortunately once you have games installed it's a simple matter to pull up your library and jump right into it, no matter where it originated.
I'm really interested in seeing where this platform goes.

It has potential…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this is a solid device with good hardware. That being said, it leaves a lot to be desired. It really feels like a beta release. It’s hard to navigate, the keyboard disappears randomly, and several games have a tendency to lag. All of which makes for a frustrating gaming experience. I hope to see some updates in the coming months that make this device more of an easy reach. As far as comfort goes, I love the ergonomic design. It has a really good hand feel. I like the color; white is classy in my opinion.

gaming on the go

So far I am enjoying gaming on the go, I go to a lot of Doctor's appointments and the Rog Xbox ally goes with me. My play anywhere games from my Xbox series x are installed on my Rog Xbox ally

My teenager loves it, he can connect to T.V. with his dock( extra did not come with product) and play with his friends. It is charged with in a couple hours. Comes with cable. Has a great grip the handles are very comfortable when playing.
