[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to extend the life of my 18v tools. But these batteries do not hold a charge. And the adapter is a struggle to engage and disengage with both 18v tools and the 20v batteries is impossible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great option for 18v but how about 14v hand drill?

I have 2 set of hand drills, one is 18v and the other is 14v. The 14v is hard to find the battery for it now, it's become useless with no battery. however I like the 14v more than the 18v. I wonder why Dewalt don't make this adapter for the 14v hand drill?

The old 18volt battery lasted much longer. Paid high price for two 20 volt batteries that last less then two years.

Excellent nicad replacement system

I use these for projects and jobs around my home, they work perfectly. I don’t know what the fuss is about the adapter being hard to install and remove, I’m disabled with limited use of my left arm/hand and it is not difficult with any of my tools. The batteries charge quickly and last a sufficient amount of time for the size and capacity they have. Also people should realize that the batteries should be removed when your no longer using the tool, it’s common practice and safer so accidents occur.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Just purchased and very happy I am able to save two of my DeWalt tools! One is a driver/drill 1/2 inch chuck and the other is hammer/drill 1/2 inch chuck that I have owned for many, many years. The trigger has gone out on the driver/drill and the hammer/drill won't stay on hammer any more. I'm still holding on to them because I am sort of attached to them. Still have a few more. And I'm super happy I finally found the kit that allows me to dump a bunch of old 18 volt batteries and with the adapter/battery kit, use 20 volt batteries instead. Makes me a happy person!
