Extended the life of my 20+ year old 4 tool set.

After 20 + years and multiple sets of batteries I purchased this adapter 2+ years ago. This has extended the life of my tool set into the Li Ion age. The tools last longer on the job and I may yet be able to get another 10 years out of this tool set. The adapter & newer Li Ion batteries look a bit funky, but you soon get used to it.

Just save yourself the time and aggravation and go buy 18v batteries or a new tool. You can also have your 18v battery packs rebuilt. Whatever you do, just DO NOT buy this awful product.
Darins the batteries overnight, doesnt "fit right" horrible run-time compared to a an 18v (let alone the xtra run time 18v).

Revitalizar for 18v Tools!

I have had this since June 2018 (now Dec. 2020) and it has saved me from having to buy a completely new set of tools at once. Instead, I can just transition one tool at a time and still use the 20v batteries. I’ve added another to my wish list because I think this adapter is so helpful.

Save your money. Hopefully the will bring back the Lithium batteries back. The adapter and battery pack should be an embarrassment coming from Dewalt.

nice batteries, difficult adapter

I purchased this adapter and battery kit in an attempt to continue using my older DeWalt tools, which work perfectly. The batteries lose charge quickly so I've learned to remove them from the adapter when not in use. The adapter itself, however, is nearly impossible to remove from the tool without the use of gorilla strength. Holding the tool between my knees and using both hands to remove the adapter is simply not suitable, especially if you're on a ladder, scaffold or some other elevated platform where you risk dropping the tool or yourself to the ground. Extremely poor design. Seems DeWalt's intention was for us consumers to either purchase an adapter for each of our tools or to purchase all new tools.

Update older system

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this kit to update my older 18v tools.
Pros: faster charging, longer lasting batteries. Tools are much lighter.
Cons: battery drains quickly (after several hours) when left in tool. Causes a noticeable pulse in my DeWalt fluorescent worklight.
Long and short of it, it's a viable option to keep using your old tools, but there are annoying flaws that will likely be solved by updating to tools that were designed for the newer style batteries.

Does the job.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product allows me to use my old 18v tools with the 20v batteries. My only complaint is that the low amp hour of the batteries makes them not last very long. Higher amp hour batteries would be much more useful with this product.

Good option to extend life of older tools

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several 18 volt tools that although are not the latest technology, they are adequate for a DIYer like myself. This is a good way to extend their life and serve as a bridge to the newer line of tools. I don’t leave batteries attached to the adapter based on comments in previous reviews. The adapter is sometimes difficult to remove from the tool due to the strong latching mechanism.
