The 5418 is a great little entry level espresso machine. Get a bottomless portafilter and non-pressurized basket with an espresso puck screen and you'll never miss going to a coffeeshop.

Temperature

Hello,
I bought this coffee machine about two months ago and overall it works well, but I’ve noticed one issue: the coffee comes out extremely hot. It sometimes burns my mouth and I it might be overheating the coffee beans. Is there any way to adjust the temperature settings or prevent the machine from brewing at such a high temperature? This changes the whole experience for me, since instead of enjoying the coffee I need to wait for it to cool down and it doesn’t taste the same.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. You can try reducing the coffee grounds slightly or using a slightly coarser grind to lower the pressure, and shorten the brewing time — this usually helps bring down the temperature.

Solid Machine for Everyday Use

Got the CM5418 a while back, and it’s been my go-to every morning. Pulls a good shot and the crema looks great. I like that it doesn’t take up too much space on my counter.
Only thing is, the pressure gauge sometimes feels a bit slow to react, but it hasn’t affected the taste of my coffee. For the price, I think it’s a really good value.

Reasonable machine – good for the price. Almost identical to one bought under a different name - Wirsh - a few years back, for a different location. Only visible difference is the addition of a pressure gage, different control buttons, and slightly different programming.
Only odd thing was how the filter basket is held in the handle. This one uses a raised dot on the basket and a slot in the handle. No mention of that in the instructions.
Note that this type of machine is not repairable. It is designed and built for inexpensive manufacturing. Like many products these days.

Buy it! Your coffee shop ritual in your kitchen

This is the first espresso machine I have owned and I don’t think I’ve loved any other appliance more. My husband and I were spending so much on coffee shop visits multiple times a week. I got this as a Father’s Day gift for him and am blown away by 1) how easy it is to use, 2) how fun it is! it’s such a simple ritual we genuinely look forward to, and 3) that it’s super easy to clean, so much easier than a traditional coffee maker or cold press. After having this, I don’t know why the norm in the U.S. is to have a clunky coffee maker for a full pot, taking up space and being difficult to fully clean. This is the best, cleanest, yummiest coffee you can make at home hands down. At least for newbies like us. It’s so fast to make your latte (or whatever you’re making). We have a small kitchen and this takes up barely any counter space, and a huge plus that it’s a cute color and blends in well (we got the beige). Have not had a single issue with this machine. Such a thoughtful and well made design. Thank you Casa Brews for our daily oat milk lavender lattes!!
