These are absolute garbage. The first failed 2 or 3 years ago, after 3 or 4 years - not repairable. I bought another one, because I have the matching fridge, and thought maybe I just had bad luck. The second failed this week. $3,000 down the drain, plus hundreds in food. Again. And I’ll need to spend another $3,000 to replace both units now. It won't be Whirlpool! Stay away from these.

Compressor went, and it's only 4 years old! I was told that it is not worth repairing (at least a $900 - $1,100 repair) since there may be a leak in the cooling lines and given the way it is manufactured the repair guy couldn't guarantee he could repair it. You really have to think before purchasing a Whirlpool product. More junk going to the landfill, what a waste.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You are basically paying this amount to use the freezer for a year, mine just died 2 weeks past the year mark, so no warranty. The design is so bad, and the information in the manual is contradictory. It says freezers need to be full to run efficiently, but then it says don’t put food packages in front of the vents. So basically: “pack the freezer full so it runs efficiently, but don’t pack it full or it won’t run efficiently” Looks like the freezer was also designed in such a way that the compressor blows within a couple of years, so perhaps the design team needs to be replaced. Thanks Whirlpool, I just lost a freezer full of meat. I will not be buying that garbage again Maybe Best Buy needs to be a little more careful in what they sell, because this is definitely not a “Best Buy”
