Still happy with the third unit that I've purchased in the last fifteen years, however, the pitcher is still inordinately problematic in the first year of use as the tip breaks far too easily and the replacement cost for this manufacturing defect is ridiculously priced. Hopefully one day you will address this horribly constructed defect. Thank you.
My coffee maker needs are few, but specific, and this product fit that bill, from a trustworthy brand that I like. This maker was my top choice, but I did research my other options and read a lot of reviews. I actually put off purchasing this for awhile because I kept seeing commentary about the carafe breaking. I do not know if the manufacturing has changed, but it does not feel fragile to me, which I'm thankful for. I do wish there was an auto-off function, but it's not a deal breaker. I love the removable water carafe and the coffee set up is very easy, and I'm very pleased with this.
My 1 star rating is based on the company, not the coffee maker. The coffee maker worked fine, the size of the serving is really, really small (6oz) so I find that it barely makes 2 cups of coffee at a time. And then I found out that I couldn't return it. They don't accept returns on a coffee maker I used only once!!! Pretty sure that important information was buried in the fine print. Pretty unhappy with their customer service.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoy the fast brewing and hot coffee, and we’re sorry for the frustrations with the carafe. Please note that coffee maker cups are intentionally smaller than a standard mug, and most brands use a 5‑oz cup as an industry standard. If you need assistance, our customer service team is happy to help at support@zojirushi.com or 1‑800‑733‑6270 (M–F, 8 AM–5 PM PST).
I absolutely love my Zutto, which I've had for four years now. It brews excellent coffee, is simple to clean. It has a small footprint, and the design means the basket doesn't get stuck on the coffee maker when you put the carafe on the burner like so many others.
I make iced coffee almost every day in the summer with it, which I never did before I got it because I didn't know how much water to use. There are measurements on the water canister (not visible until it's pulled out) for iced.
It's worth mentioning that you need to make 2 Zojirushi "cups" to get an equivalent U.S. cup of coffee. So best for small households.
A simple, elegantly designed machine that does its job so well.
This small 5-cup coffee maker is perfect for me as I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. I like the design with the filter basket inside the carafe and the simplicity of operation. Some coffee makers have a swing up shower head that drips condensate and makes a mess. With the Zutto, the shower head is stationary and therefore no drips. The temperature of the coffee is not as hot as I would like and there is a lot of plastic, but at this price point, I'm very pleased.
No alarm clocks, no bells or whistles. No "vampire voltage" running up your electric bill 24 hours a day. Just an on/off switch. High quality, simple and reliable design.
