[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The brightness is not as good as it should be, and the blacks are not very crisp. Dark scenes and movies are very muddled.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We’re sorry to hear you’re not fully satisfied with the picture quality on your Samsung U8000F TV. If the image appears too dark, we suggest disabling certain energy-saving features, which can automatically adjust brightness and affect how the screen looks.
Go to: Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Power and Energy Saving, then turn off Brightness Optimization, Energy Saving Solution, Motion Lighting, and/or Contrast Enhancer.
You can also adjust the Picture Mode to better suit your environment: Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
• Standard – Default mode for general viewing
• Dynamic – Brighter and clearer, ideal for well-lit rooms
• Movie – Best for dark room viewing
• Eco – Energy-saving mode
• Filmmaker Mode – Preserves content as intended by creators
To fine-tune brightness, go to: Home > left directional key > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings, then adjust the Brightness level (0–50) to your preference.
Lastly, please make sure your TV is running the latest firmware: Home > Home > left directional key > Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brightness, color, and contrast were in a simple gear selection on remote didn't have to adjust much best picture I've ever had on a TV. Even has advanced settings for more quality, simplified! The refresh rate was great never noticed any lag. For Resolution everything was centered no missing gaps. I would recommend this TV for its quality and slim features to fit close to the wall. Ideally it being slim the sound was great to but lacks in bass. Can't have it all. Loved this TV!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really enjoy the TV. Great picture and features. Only negative is that it seems to default to Samsung TV plus when you turn it on. I haven't figured out how to set it to default to the last input source used. The vast majority of the time we are using our Verizon FIOS cable box on HDMI. It's a pain to have to use two different remotes - cable and TV to get to our preferred input source.
I would recommend this to a friend!
