Love the design. It's a beautiful knife. And it's reasonably sharp, but given the reputation of Shun, I am disappointed that it is not sharper. I have knives that haven't been sharpened in a year that are sharper. I suppose I could try to sharpen it myself to get a better edge, but it's baffling that it did not arrive razor sharp.

Hello David,
Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and rating. We are very sorry to hear of your experience with the knife. We will reach out to you for more information and to assist. Thank you.
Awesome hand feel and balance, blade is extremely sharpe at it cuts soft vegetables (tomatoes) to beef brisket with ease! Love this knife. My new “go-to” knife!
I have Ben using this knife for over a month now and feel I can give a considered opinion on this knife. The reality is that this is truly an exceptional knife. The quality of this knife is indisputable, but it is the balance & functionality that makes it stand above any knife I have used. I have a shun santoku knife with a Ken Onion handle that is my utility knife and has always impressed me, but it doesn’t even compare or this Nakiri blade for chopping and processing quickly and precisely. Don’t hesitate to purchase this knife!
First off Shuns Nakiri is so beautifully crafted. It truly looks like a piece of art. Its works super well on vegetables I need for my prep work. I just wish Shun would make a saya for the Nakiri.
