Just what you expect from Shun; supremely sharp, well balanced and beautiful. The size makes it my go to knife for most kitchen cutting and an excellent addition to my Shun Chef's knife.

Great knife. Aesthetically, a beautiful work of art. Practically, it is a terrific day to day knife IF you follow one rule - DO NOT PUT THIS IN THE DISHWASHER. Even one cycle will dull the wood handle's finish. So long as you hand clean it (not that hard to do with a knife), you will love this knife like no other in your cabinet.

Excellent Knife

I have very small hands and I use it to slice, chop, mince, etc. I would agree with the 1* review, that as a small paring knife it would be worthless for the exact reasons the reviewer mentions. But as a small "chef's knife" it is excellent. I use it all the time. Giving this knife an appropriate name would be useful (not paring).

This knife is strikingly beautiful, incredibly sharp and useful. Unlike the other commenter, I have had no issues pealing with it.

Terriffic General Purpose Small Knife

A wonderful knife for cutting small fruits & vegetables. I often use it effectively for coring apples, pears, etc. I've had the knife for almost four years; it seems to have held it's edge quite well.

Lovely little knife

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was complaining about. Granted, I've never used it for peeling -- I have peelers for that -- but it is a PERFECT knife for chopping small things like herbs or shallots. Very sharp and lovely to look at, with a perfect balance and weight.

Worthless Knife!

I have tried to give the knife a chance. Also have the Classic line version. Just tried to use it peel , the intended purpose of a paring knife, and it does not work. The blade is too wide to make cuts like peeling an apple or squash. This is a waste of money knife. The narrower blade available in the Classic line is prefect, and a often used tool, The Wide Classic paring was a gift,
Just to valid my comments. I know 14 Shun knives. Ken Onion (Bread and Chef), Classic (Chef, Western Chef and more..), Premier (Chef, Bread paring, and Taiyo....All are amazing, EXCEPT this wide based paring.. useless..
