Don't recommend

I have several Roku devices going back to the original, they've all worked fine. This is the first one I've been really disappointed with. It worked fine at first but now every time I steam anything it drops wifi connection and is unable to scan for my network. My internet service is fine, everything else works, but this device fails to recognize my network unless I reset the device. This happens every time I use it.

Was working fine until it wasn't!

I'm out of town, ready to watch my DVR shows and this pops up… "This device (Roku Express 4K+) can only access Xfinity Stream on your in-home Xfinity Wi-Fi.  Use the app on your smartphone, tablet or laptop to watch on the go, any time you like.  (Error: TVAPP-00101) Isn't the whole point of this type of app and device so you can take your channels and shows with you?  Why would I want to watch a show on a 3"x4" screen when I have an 85" in front of me? Xfinity doesn't have a solution to fix this except to call Roku Support.  Since I just bought the Roku Express 4K+ not to long ago and it's still under warranty, I followed their advice and went to Roku support only to get this response… "Roku Agent-assisted support is not available for your issue and/or model."  What?!  Really?!  Unbelievable, but par for the course, two companies that are eager to sell their products to us and take our money and profit from it, but at the same time won't take responsibility when those same products prove to be inferior and fail. SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU!  I do not recommend this particular Roku model, especially if you have Xfinity.

Poor support

I have a Roku Express 4K+ and Disney plus gives us error code 42 and it was working when we first got the device a month ago. When we first got the device it was great now with problems no tech support to call. Online forums but that’s it. Terrible customer service! Would not recommend. Help us fix issues and this could be a 5 star rating.

It works, but...

As with all the Roku streaming services, they do work, however, this one has a limitation that makes me wish I'd never bought it.
I watch YouTube regularly and sometimes I just want to skip forward or backward in a video to find a segment, or review something I just saw. This model will not simply scroll forward or reverse through a YT video. My older Roku models do, but this one is simply infuriating in that the fast forward and reverse on YT is only 10 seconds, then it stops. Once it stops, you have to release the button and press the button again to scroll forward or reverse again - just another 10s. I don't get it... New devices have less functionality than my 4 yr old device? Clicking through a 30 or 40 min video 10 seconds at a time? That's a lot of clicks and wasted time such that I find I use Roku less and less each day, and am using to my PC more. Maybe I can still return this device. It certainly doesn't live up to the previous models!

Hi Eric, thanks for reaching out. We'd like to help!

On your Roku Express 4K+, you can use either the purple directional buttons or the fast forward/rewind buttons to move throughout the video on YouTube. A single press on either button will move the video 10 seconds at a time. To move through a large section of the video as you mentioned, you'll want to press and hold the button.

If you're still experiencing issues, we'd recommend trying the fast forward feature on other channels to see if the problem is isolated to YouTube. It may also help to uninstall and reinstall the YouTube channel.

We hope this helps!

Hello, we're sorry to hear about your connection troubles and we'd like to help.

If you're continuing to have troubles, please reference our helpful FAQ article: http://go.roku.com/connectivity. This page will provide you with common concerns, troubleshooting, error codes, and recommended actions.

Be sure that your router is within range of the device and avoid obstructions like cabinets and walls when possible. If your router and Roku device both support 5GHz, you could also try connecting to the 5GHz wireless network for improved network strength. Alternatively, it may also help to manually change the wireless channel. You can find more details about how to executive this linked in the FAQ article above.

We hope this helps!

Just I bought an Express 4K+, when I turn the TV on with itthe TV comes in but not the Roku, i need to unplug it to get it to come in the home screen. Tried everything. Also if I'm watching why would it all me if I'm still watching.
So frustrating.
Response from roku.comBy RebeccaRoku Customer AdvocateJanuary 31, 2022
Hi Penny, thanks for your feedback!

If your Roku is plugged into a USB port on your TV for power, try plugging it in with an external power cord. Sometimes the USB connection will power on your Roku player slower than a wall outlet, since it must wait for the TV to wake up first. You make want to try using a different HDMI port or a different cable, to ensure that there is not an HDMI handshake error.

It also sounds like you might have a feature enabled called "Bandwidth Saver". This will prompt you to confirm that you are still watching after 4 hours. But you can easily disable this feature using the steps below:

Press Home home button on Roku remote on your Roku remote >> Scroll and select Settings >> Select Network >> Select Bandwidth saver >> Choose Off

Note: Some streaming channels employ their own mechanism to cease data usage after a specific period of inactivity, such as Netflix. These features will not be affected when you disable Bandwidth Saver.

Happy Streaming!

The first one I bought had the glue from the front plastic shipping shield all staying on the Roku itself, so it had to be carefully cleaned. Then it failed to function at all. Garbage!!!
The second one I bought works alright, but it runs soooo hot I had to put an insulating pad under it to protect my video stand. I don't feel safe. It's that HOT!!
