I've had my Peak Design Travel Backpack for a few years and it still looks as good as new. When I'm done traveling I'm giving this to my son and he can continue its journey. This thing is built to last and still look great.
This system has the best camera cubes I have tried, but the pack has the worst harness ever. The straps have almost no padding on either the shoulders or the waist belt, and carrying a pro sized kit for any length of time is torture. The straps dig into your shoulders and hurt. The connectors on both the shoulder and waist section is a fiddly frustrating mess, very hard to fasten. I get that the harness is minimal to make it stowable, but it also means that the pack fails at it's most basic task...carrying a load in comfort.
I work with film production and this bag is truly a game changer. The system with camera cubes is so versatile and I find myself leaving my equipment in the bag between shoots because it is so orderly in there. No matter how heavy I pack it out it's always a pleasure to wear. Get it!
Just bought the 45L bag. The design is fabulous. Love all the features AND used them. So so so clever. The amount of kit I can take on a shoot is simply amazing. This is a FIVE STAR BAG. Except for one important thing. Heavy bags need excellent padding on the shoulder straps. These straps are thin. To keep using this bag that I FREAKIN LOVE, I’m going to have to fashion a couple of Velcro fastened foam pads to stop my clavicles taking the hit for DAYS after carrying the bag. I get it! I understand why the straps have to be thin. If they were thick for comfort they wouldn’t fit inside the really useful strap concealer panels; a feature I love. Peak Design design guys…. please design some after market pads to attach to the straps at shoulder level, that can be removed and slipped into a pocket when stowing the straps. I’ll make a version to work for me now, but you’d do a better job 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack (Black)
Hands down, the best travel backpack I've ever owned. I've traveled to over 43 countries, and this bag has been a game changer! The 45L size is perfect for both short and extended trips, fitting everything I need without ever feeling bulky. It's incredibly durable and weatherproof, which has saved me on multiple adventures in unpredictable climates. The design is sleek, functional, and super versatile with customizable packing cubes and compartments. Whether I'm trekking through airports or hiking in the mountains, this bag is comfortable and reliable every step of the way. I can't recommend it enough!
I've had this bag now for about 18 months and it's been brilliant. I used it to store my camera and gear in at home and for day trips, but it really comes into its own for photography trips abroad. Using the packing cubes you can optimise the space inside, I typically take a mirrorless body, a telephoto lens, a wide angle lens, filters, batteries, rain covers, memory cards and cleaning kit in a camera packing cube, and then a change of clothes in one of the other peak design clothing packing cubes. Perfect for hand luggage, this bag has been on African Safari, through the Australian Tropical Forests, and through the Amazon including camping out, so it's been put through its paces. It kept my gear accessible, safe, and dry (with the additional rain cover). It's got loads of handy pockets and features and has plenty of room. The build quality is excellent.
Only negatives are that it's not the most comfortable bag to wear for a long time when it's heavy, it digs into shoulders and small of the back on me. The only other negative would be that for the price I would hope the rain cover was included.
I've had this bag for several years and used for both traveling, day trips, around town things like picnics. It's such a versatile pack. The material is rugged and keeps dirt and water out of it. It compresses down to save space when I don't need it packed to the gills, but when I need to carry say a bunch of jackets for my family, my sling, water bottles, hats, it can hold all of it, and still have extra room. The external carry straps are great for when I have larger puffy jackets that won't fit inside. The slide out waist straps are something I've not seen on any other pack either. Most other packs they detach off or roll up inside, but I love how fast I can stow them when not needed.
