Fantastic Backpack!

I have used my 45L travel backpack a few times since I bought it and this is no doubt the most well-made backpack I’ve ever owned! It is a well thought out product as all Peak Design items are. I bundled a large camera cube for my photo gear and it works great for easy access and storage!

45L Peak Backpack

Bought the 45L bag to use a functional carry on with travel as well as an everyday work backpack to carry my laptop, electronics, and a change of clothes. It does everything I need in a backpack. Pretty reasonably priced, and I highly recommend.

Amazing bag with Wanted Updates
on November 1, 2025

I bought this mainly as backpack for college. The added benefits were for weekend National Guard drills and short trips. This backpack is perfect for the way I organize and the amount of items I pack. The travel backpack was a bit uncomfortable the first two days for me but once I got used to it, it was comfortable for my body frame. My weight is 170lb, height 5'7, and male.
My 3 main issues with the bag.
1st most important needed update. The two water bottle pockets are too tight and small when you fill up the bag to be able to fit 32oz nalgene or yeti water bottles. I ended up losing my nalgene do to this.
2nd the top small front pocket has perfect organization for me but I wish it was a bit deeper.
3rd the bottom magnetic pouch could of be a amazing storage addition but I don't feel secure in trusting the magnets. Peak designs needs to add a zipper in this pouch.
Overall. I love this bag even with the issue I have. Please update this design so I can purchase more for my friends and family as gifts or to recommend.

Still the best - BUT
on October 29, 2025

this has been my global travel backpack for close to 7 years - i still have not found a better travel backpack - it has so many well designed feature - esp how the shoulder straps can be hidden for when i have to check it in or
have it in duffel mode - and how it can expand with an additional 10L - BUT i wish PD would launch a simplified version of this - lighter, less features
I dont need the side loading - i wish it was a side hinge clamshell - vs the floppy flap, where things fall out if i didnt zip the stioage compartemts - and i wish the laptop compartment was not also an oppening flap, where laptop can slide out when not secured w velcor tab - i also dont need redundant entry point - needs better, dedicated storage for glasses, airpods, cables, chargers - essentially i'd like the PD duffel with proper backpack straps and a laptop compartment

Good space, but the shoulder straps are terrible.

I bought the sage travel backpack in March at the Photography show. First, let's talk about the positives of the bag. The most noticeable thing about the bag is the look; it is easily one of the best bags I have seen, and the sage really suits the bag. The build quality is also very good; it feels expensive and built to last. Inside the bag, the space is impressive, and the fact that you can zip and expand the bag from 27 litres to 33 litres. I also like the laptop pocket, which is really practical.
For all the positives, unfortunately, the backpack is let down for a couple of reasons. The first is the hooks for the carry straps. Generally, it is nice to have them, but the 2 hooks at the bottom of the bag rub against my lower back, which is annoying. Also, I find the sternum strap pretty useless; it doesn't store particularly well and is always dropping out of its stored position.
The main issue, though, is the shoulder straps, which are absolutely awful. When I tried the bag out, it was empty, and the bag is OK, right up until you fill the bag up with equipment and books for university, the thin straps just put so much pressure on my shoulders that I have to take the bag off.
So whilst the bag has good space, I have to be so wary of what I put in the bag, because I can't carry around anything really heavy, which is pretty useless for a lot of what I would want to use the bag for.

Perfect, the 30L model just didn't have enough space. The 45L is excellent, with the side access, the extra pockets, and more comfortable straps. It's the best!

THE Best Travel Backpack

Bought the 45L Travel Backpack in Coyote before a 2 week trip in Europe. I have since packed it with new sweaters, jeans, gifts, etc. and the bag still manages to fit everything without the expander. Pockets are extremely well organized and accessible. This is THE best travel backpack. And a lifetime warranty makes the product 100% worth it for the price and quality design. Doesn’t hurt my back too and I am a thin woman with lots of stuff!

Zipper heaven

Always seem to overpack when traveling, both for business and pleasure. Since purchasing the 45L Travel Backpack, I’ve found it difficult to choose any other type of bag or luggage for my trips. No need to check bags during flights. The biggest advantage, and what I really appreciate most, besides the flexibility of the Travel Backpack, are the zippers. After 2.5 years of constant travel, daily use, and frequent overpacking, the zippers still hold up excellently.
