Bought this so we could avoid checking luggage for a trip to Europe. Worked exactly as I hoped it would. Easy to carry through airports and train stations. Perfect size for a personal carry on.
Extremely happy with this backpack. Perfect size, like that it can expand when needed. Packing cubes that fit the bag perfectly we’re awesome, especially the compression feature. Very stylish
I got the 45L travel backpack with the Kickstarter, and it has been my go-to for all of my optics on any travel trip. I usually carry a spotting scope, DSLR, 200-500mm lens, and a few walkaround lenses.
So why choose the smaller bag over it? Easy answer is you will never be asked to check the 30L. Even in a smaller plane, or when over-head space is full, in a pinch the 30L will fit under your seat. The extra room I had in the 45L after getting in the large camera cube wasn't enough to make it truly one bag travel (it probably would if I didn't need that size cube) but I also like having a bag that keeps everything I don't want checked, and a second carry-on that I can comfortably check if needed.
Four stars because the design of the bag betrays that it was done on the cheap from the 45L, without thinking about how this was different. The interior pockets are on the bottom of the storage space, for example, so you have to remove everything to access them. Not particularly useful...
It is also missing the two stealth exterior pockets of the 45L, but the expanded exterior pocket is nice. All in all a really solid bag, and as noted, only stays home on trips where I need a more technical pack for extended hiking.
This is my third camera-style backpack and this one checks all the boxes. I just traveled with it for the first time, to shoot a wedding (both photo and video), and it was a dream to take on the plane. • I wanted something that could fit all my gear when I have fly dates ✅ • I wanted it to fit underneath the airplane seat ✅ • I wanted it to fit on my carry-on roller bag easily ✅ • I needed it to fit a 16" MacBook Pro ✅
Here is all the gear I fit in the 30L travel backpack: medium camera cube, small camera cube, Sony a7IV, Sony FX3 w/ top handle, Sony - 16-35, 50 1.2, 24-105, 70-200 GMII, filters, batteries, rode wireless + camera mic, lens caps, straps, 16" MacBook Pro + charger, and one bag on M&M's.
Bag is a little expensive but very high quality. There's a ton of built in organization. My wife and I just took it on a 3 week trip. We used it as our tech bag. Was able to fit two 14 inch laptops in the computer compartment. We also put in other stuff we didn't want to check, like baby monitor and camera. Tons of space. Fits perfect under the seat of a plane. Really like that you can hide the straps. Handles to grab from any direction. I look forward to using this bag for many years.
I've had the backpack about 6 months and have made several trips with it. Love how it's durable and waterproof. I got the optional waist strap which helps transfer the weight to the hips. I like the expansion feature and clamshell opening design. You have to get some kind of interior organizers since it's one big compartment. Holds tons, especially with the expansion zipper opened. Fits nicely under airplane seats. Only slight minus for me is would like the shoulder straps to have a bit more padding. But it's full of great features and lots of ways to grab or hook it onto the handle of a roller bag.
I've bought this product for every day photography works because the everyday 20L V1/V2 too small, but the camera cube are too big and you need to expand the bag to use them. And 2 camera cube are not easy to use, too big.
