Great travel bag

This bag has so far met all my needs during my travels. I've used it as my primary personal bad when flying and have also used it on a 1-3 day trips. I have yet to try to put it under my seat on a flight, but it fits great in the overhead compartment. Love how the straps can be tucked away so that it doesn't get snagged or caught on anything when not in use. All the pockets are useful and the side pockets fits my large hydro flash without any issues. Overall very comfortable no matter the load. I've gotten the backpack a bit dirty and haven't attempted to clean it yet. Supposedly it's easy to clean with a wet rag, but I haven't tried yet. The major issue I had was that the sternum strap kept coming loose. Eventually the time I didn't pay attention to it when it was store away on the shoulder strap, I lost the sternum strap. I'll have to replace it by purchasing a new one.
This bag meets all my needs. I am in the military and I have always struggled to find a bag that I can wear in uniform because of MilSpec regulations. A bag that fits all I need when I go to the field and a bag that is modular enough for me to use for work, for travel and to carry my camera gear and laptop. I was so glad when PD came out with a black bag because that meant I could use the bag in uniform so thank you for that. That bag is also very durable and it's made strong. I don't like getting it dirty but I feel a sense of pride when I do because it takes dirt and grime like it's nothing and you can just wipe it off with a moist towel. I love the features of the bag as well. The compression snaps allow me to size it down to 30L. I keep my small camera cube in it al all times and I can still fit books, binders, and anything I would need to head to the range or the field. All in all I love my bag. Thank you for creating this beauty and I hope this is not the last great bag you guys make. Thank you.
So far, I've taken this bag on 2 week long trips, and a handful of other 1-3 day trips and it has performed perfectly in every scenario I've thrown at it. The first thing I will mention is that I always pack it out with at least the small camera cube. For one of the week long trips, I took a medium cube packed fully with camera gear, and all the necessary clothes/toiletries/etc for a week away and while it was a tight squeeze, I was able to make it work!
The most pleasant surprise about this bag has been how well it fits on domestic flights in the US. I've been able to stash it underneath the seat when the overhead is full, it fits in overheads EASILY. I've taken it on the small turbo prop planes (Saab SF340) and it fit nicely in the overhead (sideways of course). I've taken it on the larger (think ATR 72) and while it probably could've fit in the seat in front of me, it got stashed in the overhead easily!
I love this flexibility because I do not want to have to gate check my one bag with my expensive camera gear, laptop, tablet, etc. and risk it being lost or damaged.
Even with the relatively heavy loads I carry around with all of the gear inside, the straps are super comfortable. The HUGE side pockets are just killer, you can literally put anything in them. Because of the zip down back access to the camera compartment, I have taken to using this in the buttoned down mode when I take my full camera kit somewhere. It's basically replaced my everyday bag!
I had been searching for just the right bag for 2 to 3 day work trips that dont require me to whip up a carry-on suitcase. This is functional, looks good, and not bulky. I am so happy that these folks spent all the time to think about all the requirements and deliver on them flawlessly.
I generally love this bag and it's flexibility. However, most of the zippers are low quality and their strings easily fall apart. Wait on the next upgrade, if you can.

I've lived in Europe for over 9 years and traveled everywhere in Central & Eastern Europe on budget airlines. I was interested in how the 30-45L feature would work within these smaller airlines. Since having it I've been on 5 flights and I've had no problems. The ergonomics of the bag, to make it small and then bigger with just a click, so these features this my go-to bag around Budapest when I'm on the metro or when I'm flying RyanAir, WizzAir and all the budget airlines. I am continually surprised at what I can pack into.
Highly recommended for anyone traveling and in need of a useful camera, laptop, weekend and everyday backpack.
At this point, I've had almost every Peak Design Bag, and I can absolutely say the Travel Backpack is the most versatile and my favourite bag. I love the ability to quickly adapt the bag to meet my needs for the day without having to unpack and repackaged my gear. This was my main challenge with the Everyday backpack. If I wasn't shooting, I would have to pull my gear out of the bag and collapse the flex fold dividers, but with the Travel Backpack, I just pop out the camera cubes and I'm set to go. Leaving those packed for the next time I need them. Also, for when this bag is loaded down, the hip straps are super helpful. It is a big bag, no way around that. However, it's well design, thought out, and can be user for travelling and everyday life.
