The travel bag is perfect design. The size is fit for a hand carry bay on board a flight. The strings are perfectly hidden before you put it into the cabin storage. Material is fine but if the net weight of the bag could be reduced, it would be perfect.
I am preparing for a 5 month travel through Central Asia, and I wanted a bag that was small enough not to cloud my experience but large enough to not leave me without my essential. I spent several hours and purchased the 4 best bags in this category. The other bags were great but this bag was the most well rounded. The quality of the material, design intelligence, and esthetics are amazing. The pack works great with the packing cubes which I also found to be some of the best on the market. The whole system is costly and I would love it if the expansion zippiers felt a little more durable.
Other bags considered (GoRuck 40L, Nomatic 40L, Timbuktu)
I have been traveling for one month with this bag and my life feels so organized! Everything has a place, my laptop, my Kindle, my passport (in the secret side pockets). And the water bottle holders are fantastic.
I love being able to easily tuck the straps away, same with the hip belt. And if I have wet clothes or a bulky item like a yoga mat I can easily strap it to the outside. It looks classy!
I have had it out in the light rain, cycled in the mud with it, and it still comes out looking good.
If I have a little extra in the bag I can unzip it to 45L. The 'day carry' version feels a bit useless to me, the snaps to make the bag smaller are a bit of a pain and I would say even with it, this is too big for an EDC for me.....hey, it can't be perfect!
The zippers all feel solid and I love the extra security feautures on them....most can be tucked away or looped together.
I worry the shoulder strap will fall off, but I haven't lost it yet. I am 6'0" woman and this feels comfy to wear. The bag is almost 5lbs empty, which was a downside for me, but everything is so well designed. All the mesh pockets feel durable, along with the zippers.
I bought the packing cubes, the tech pouch, and the wash bag along with it and I thought they would fit more seamlessly together in the bag, but they do keep everything organized. And yes, my life feels organized when I am all over the place traveling! Thanks PD!
After watching countless reviews, I decided to take the plunge and treat myself! First impressions invoked the inner geek in me, as I thought of all the different ways I could use the bag. While I have yet to put the bag through it's paces my initial short trips proved the bag to be a worthy ally and a very functional piece of kit. Let's hope the quality stays true it's claims in the years to come.
I wanted to buy a backpack for an upcoming 10 day solo trip to Japan and after a lot of research between the different options available in the market, I decided to buy the Peak design 45l travel backpack. I was looking for a backpack big enough to carry 10 days worth of clothes including a few jackets for my trip. Since I was covering 4 cities in Japan, I needed to rely on only one bag for a hands free experience from one train station to another and peak design delivered! 10 days, 4 cities, countless subways, trains, cablecars and even ropeways and ferries, PD helped me navigate through all that with no hassle. The orginzation is also so easy that it helped me move from one hotel to another quickly without having to pack and unpack. Recommend buying compression packing cubes (any brand) to go along with your backpack. It makes it easier to pack more stuff and keep things organized while you are traveling.
Seriously, this bag has so many pockets that are well thought out and strategically placed. Love the dual entrance to the front pockets. Love the compatibility and seamless integration with my small camera cube. Luggage pass through is excellent, as is the foldaway straps and magnetic closures throughout the backpack. Hidden pockets are genius. I fold down the top to make it smaller when I don't have as much stuff. Great for weekend travel.
I am very picky when it comes to my backpacks quality. Peak Design did not cheap out on their quality! Everything is top notch! Also, it has great functionality with all of the zippers making in convenient to reach in and grab something quick without having to dig though the top zipper.
