Decade-Proven Everyday Bag for Hobby Photographers

I have two of these backpacks, having gotten my first one about ten years ago. I use for my camera gear and other things when traveling or just when carrying my camera somewhere. Incredibly useful, well thought and laid out. I highly recommend this and other PD products, some of which I also own.
I’ve owned the Peak Design Everyday Backpack (20L) for about ten years, (it was actually purchased for me as a gift) and it’s still my go-to bag for both dedicated photography outings and travel with camera gear mixed in with everyday travel items. The FlexFold dividers are the standout feature for me — their origami-style folding design lets me customize the interior layout exactly to fit my lenses and bodies, and reconfigure it in seconds when my gear changes. The dual side-access UltraZips with their internal and external pockets are genuinely well thought out, giving me quick access to small items without opening the whole bag. The dedicated laptop sleeve makes this bag versatile enough for work trips, not just camera outings, and it still looks sharp and professional enough to carry into an office or for work travel. After a decade of regular use — including plenty of travel — the build quality has held up impressively, showing just how durable Peak Design’s materials and construction really are. I also pair mine with the Peak Design Capture Clip, which attaches to the shoulder strap for quick, hands-free camera access on the go, and it’s a perfect complement to the countless small, thoughtful details built into this bag.
Kinda of happy with it. The overall design and detailed function is very good. The design is primarily for horizontal side loading for cameras and lenses. It doesn’t work as well as it should for long 600mm plus a 400mm lens that must to be packed vertically with additional 120mm zoom lens, large camera, and accessories. Bought the tech pack with it for additional accessory space. Tech pack didn’t come with straps to attach to outside of the 30L bag. That was also confusing.
It's an ok "edc" bag if you aren't actually wearing it. Good for use in the USA where you can throw it in the car and carry it around, but it's actually an awful edc bag due to the size and weight. Its definitely just a camera storage bag with how bulky and padded it is. Was really awful for daily use in japan and I honestly really regret getting it.
Great quality, design and feature richness (typical for Peak Design, the name is in the product). I think this is the ideal bag for city trips with camera equipment. Side access really shines here since one does not always want to put down the backpack onto city grounds. I additionally got the 20L version to have some variety in terms of packing volume, depending on the length and type of trip.
I would not take this is a hiking/outdoor bag - although I have read a lot of reviews where people do this - as it is a rather "elegant" bag. The straps do not provide the necessary cushioning and safety that real hiking bags do. But who am I to judge, for hiking, I anyway have my Outdoor BPs 25L+45L. For some light grassland walks on holiday, the EBP should suffice.
Minus one star because the zippers of the side flaps tend to not run smoothly, which degrades the user experience, but maybe I just need to pack differently. The Flex Dividers also could be a little bit stiffer. If one has a heavier camera-lens-combo, like I do with my Canon R8 + 24-70mm 2.8L, they tend to really "sink in".
But all in all, a really solid backpack that I like to use since it looks good, protects expensive camera gear well and simply is a product that people have put thought into.
What can I say absolutely amazing bag perfect for your everyday needs, enough space for literally anything you would use on a day to day basis. Love all the small little details they put into the bag that you wouldn't even think you needed until they are there.
Was looking for a backpack to carry my laptop for work and all my camera accessories. I couldn't be happier. I really appreciate the ability to access my camera discreetly for public events.
