Amazing with a few minor misses

Love the quality of the materials, the thoughtful additions, and peak design flare that keeps me a loyal customer. I think I own almost every bag - or at least have at some point. I’ve been dreaming of a PD outdoor line for years and finally got my wish. Minor gripes, the addition of the sling for front carry is super creative but doesn’t allow you to cinch the straps like you would a normal chest strap. So anywhere you go for long distances it looses its value - I prefer the tighter chest strap. The interior drop pocket is just a weird placement - so it’s difficult to store anything in there you need bc it’s hard to get to. The side drop pockets on the front of the bag are great but vertical and I just forget to zip them sometimes cause they are hidden - shouldn’t unhide them but they should stop with like 2 inches to go so stuff gets caught inside more often then falling out. Would love to have a quick drop zip pocket alternative on the outside that’s horizontal - not vertical. Doesn’t need to be big but just secure. I love the loops all over the bag for attaching things but some backpacking or heavier accessories like a tent or tripod can come loose over long walks with just the string cinch cords. Would love a small pair of actual straps somewhere that can be used to cinch tight those bigger or bulkier items. Lastly - it’s pretty heavy - cost of premium materials is that they usually weight a bit more but I’d rather quality and durability than light weight.
All this to say - I still really love the bag. It feels like the highest quality. I’m nervous to take it outside because I don’t want to beat it up because it’s so beautiful but it’s meant for that and has handled the outdoors like a champ. Excited to see if I can take it on a 5-day backpacking trip.

Love this backpack!

I recently used it as my everyday backpack while on a week long trip to Tokyo. We did a lot of walking each day and it lived up to the hype. I loaded it with some camera gear, water bottle, and souvenirs that I had purchased along the way. The padding in the shoulder straps worked wonderfully, as I didn't experience any hot spots on my shoulders or discomfort.

Versatile well built bag for gear and clothes/accessories. Nice size for a run/gun light fashion/environmental shoot. Everything contained in one bag with different options to carry/secure in and on the bag. I love this bag!

Advanced and easy-to-use hiking camera backpack
on March 25, 2025

Based on my experience with many hiking camera backpacks and a few months of using this one, I am impressed by many of the features of this backpack, but I feel there are still some areas that need improvement.
1. The shoulder strap is a bit stiff, and it hurts a bit on the shoulder after wearing it for a long time. Maybe the foam can be softer.
2. After using the clip, the space for adjusting the camera position is a bit small, and the docking pocket on the chest will be sealed by the clip and can't be used.
3. The Camera Cube MS size component can only be fixed to the edge of one side of the backpack. The other side will fall off because it can't be fixed.
4. The back of the fabric is smooth and easily scratched, especially the bottom.
5. While hiking backpacks are starting to get lighter and lighter, and many advanced and durable lightweight fabrics are available, this backpack is still too heavy.
There is still portion for improvement, but I've always been a fan of this brand., this brand is also very innovative and leading in texture and design. I will continue to use this backpack in the future.

Great outdoor backpack

It's a great outdoor backpack, but there are also some issues. The chest straps are hard to fix if you are not too familiar with the backpack. The opening on the top is a cool idea, and I also use it quite often. But if there is something inside, it's very hard to open. The cords are easily stuck, and you need to use force. In my opinion, that should not be the case.
Otherwise, the backpack is one of the best I have ever used. I am happy to replace my usual hiking backpack with it.

Versatile Outdoor Bag

Just like all of my peak design purchases, I love my 45L Outdoor Bag in Black. Initially the bag didn't feel as intuitive but once I got used to all of the features and pockets I was able to maximize my experience with the bag. It handled our hikes in Maui utilizing the water bladder compartment and also had plenty of space to carry my small kids things on the hike as well. I'm not so fortunate to be hiking all the time but on the more daily use it is great as a gym bag. Definitely would recommend!

If you have a wild commute…
on March 25, 2025

I live in northern Maine and use this for my work commute, which is several rugged miles on foot over mixed terrain in sometimes hideous conditions. It keeps everything I carry safe (with one caveat, more on that below), and is very sturdy, well balanced, and comfortable regardless of what I wear underneath it. I am fine with all the straps and cords and gizmos, I expect this of a Peak Design bag and knew what I was getting into. I particularly enjoy the features borrowed from running vests and fastpacking gear, this is fertile territory to pilfer good ideas from. The fit is very streamlined, and I have run comfortably wearing this pack with no bounce with 20lb of stuff in it. I use various Peak packing cubes and pouches to organize and divide the space within. I should say that this pack is its own thing, and even though you probably could take it out into the backcountry for awhile, it’s not a hardcore hiking/adventuring product. If you have hybrid needs, though, like you wanna climb a mountain with a hydration reservoir and snacks but need to carry a laptop and camera, this is what you need. It’s prefect for what I bought it for, EXCEPT…when it is raining or snowing. Water will get in the outer flap pocket thingie and also around the magnet into the main compartment if it is expanded vertically. The rain fly solves this problem, but I am docking a star because I feel that the rain fly should have been included - I almost didn’t get it, and would have been in trouble pretty fast without it. The nifty design makes it worth it not being watertight without the fly, but the fly is essential for it to be a daily use Outdoor Backpack.
