The keyboard itself is amazing, it looks great, sounds great, etc. My biggest problems are with the Streamdeck itself, and technically the price due to its inclusion. Getting it to work was a bit of a pain at first, but when it works, it's usually all good. The Streamdeck portion doesn't work on some very specific games, for some reason, like Genshin Impact, or Zenless Zone Zero and Baldur's Gate 3 if I remember correctly? Not a massive deal breaker, but it does suck when you had plans to use it as shortcuts with nice icons. The cool profiles shown in the advertisements are also not included at all, some are actually paid and very overpriced... Making my own profiles with the same level of quality is usually too much of a pain to bother. The main screen for me is used as a nice wallpaper/clock/weather, but since it's mainly static, I noticed burn-ins when I change profiles, which is a shame considering I've only had it for a couple of months. Sometimes I do miss the Numpad, and the Numpad mode is not a really good replacement in my opinion, the buttons are mushy like a Streamdeck, unlike a real Numpad, and like my earlier problem, in some games, it doesn't even get recognized. Overall it's a neat Keyboard, but I would rather buy a full size dedicated Keyboard, and then a Streamdeck on the side. I think you'd get the best of both worlds.
Love this keyboard. It is by far the best one ive owned and worth every penny. The customization with the keys is an incredible touch i wish I had long ago and a bonus for style as the keys have custom themes which was super interesting to see. Keys are satisfying also not overly "clicky" just enough especially for a night owl not looking to disturb the peace.
Pretty good product. I enjoy the built in stream deck. Found it a bit troublesome when using the numpad as using a button to switch screens to get to a decimal or plus and minus then go back to the numbers is a pain. Also space bar doesn't feel as nice as rest of the keys for some reason
I give it three stars because in all fairness, I don't feel it's a bad keyboard, but I guess it's just not for me and I did run into some glaring issues. For my usage scenario, it has some major shortcomings that unfortunately I can't get past.
I'll preface this by saying I've never had a Stream Deck before, never had (and still don't have) a need for one, but this keyboard was a curiosity for me and decided to get one to try it out.
The good:
- The main keyboard is nice to type on, I've had a good experience with that, which obviously is the main point of the device, right? Unfortunately the good ends there for me.
The bad:
- While the keyboard is nice to type on, I would still prefer the Fusion key switches. Unfortunately, the Galleon 100 SD (at least at the time of my purchase, not sure if it's changed) only comes with one key switch option, while other Corsair keyboards typically offer multiple options. Considering the premium price tag, it would be nice to have options.
- I need a traditional numpad. I use it too much to not have one. I had my reservations concerning this, but had no real way of knowing until I personally experienced it. The Stream Deck keys are not nice at all to type with, and there's not even enough keys to include the operators with the numbers on the same tab or page or whatever you call it, so I have to keep flipping back and forth between the numbers and the operators with a toggle key if I were to try to use it as a numpad. I tried to work around it and just use the numbers on the Stream Deck while using the operators on the main keyboard, but that proved to be an unnecessary nuisance. I get that numpad functionality is not the main intention of the Stream Deck keypad, but it's a problem for me nonetheless. Your mileage may vary.
- The Stream Deck software has been a mixed experience for me. I really have no need for setting up a bunch of hotkeys for things to begin with. While nice in concept, the only hotkey I had a real immediate interest in setting up was a button to toggle between my speakers and headphones on the fly. Additionally, a number of things I would set up hotkeys for would randomly stop working after a couple/few days and I would constantly have to go back into the software to reassign the function to the key again. Considering this functionality is a nice "to have" but not truly necessary for me, this constant need to tinker turned me off entirely, it should just be a "set it and forget it" type of affair and work properly every time I press the button.
- The Corsair Web Hub - No other way to say it - This software/interface is utterly abysmal. Probably the worst I've ever had to deal with. It doesn't recognize the device three quarters of the time, have to keep repeatedly closing and opening until it finally decides to detect the device, and that's still no guarantee you're not going to run into an error of some sort even though it was finally detected. Trying to save changes was equally as daunting, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, sometimes changes made wouldn't take effect until after restarting the app and redetecting the device multiple times, who knows what it would do next? It was a crap shoot every time. I tried both the installed app and the browser-based interface, and both produced the same genuinely unacceptable results. More annoyingly, there is no iCue support for this keyboard, therefore no way to sync lighting between the two. The vast majority of my setup is Corsair and the lighting on everything is synced using Lighting Link in iCue. Everything else works in iCue, so why on earth would this horrible Web Hub be forced on me for one lousy device as prominent as the keyboard and offer no way to sync lighting settings between the two apps? Corsair - Dump that horrible Web Hub and give this keyboard iCue support.
TL;DR - Depending on your usage, you very well may get more enjoyment out of this keyboard than I did. But for me, the bad outweighed the good, and though the issue with the lack of a traditional numpad is subjective, the software problems were the biggest frustration for a keyboard that costs this much. The lack of iCue support or sync between iCue and Web Hub at the very least is like rubbing salt in the wound, major turn-off for someone who has been using iCue (and whatever it was called before that) for well over a decade.
At this point, I put it back in the box, might find a use for it at some point, who knows...
The mouse itself is great the reason I’m giving it 3 stars is due to having to use the god aweful web app please just add it to the ICUE app it’s so much better and already has all my stuff in one place that is Corsair based
awesome keyboard, the only two major improvements that i wish this keyboard had. Wish the stream deck keys wern't soft keys and that were like the rest of the mx keys. If you wish to use the soft key as a numberpad it can be werid tactile disconnect from the crisp clicks of the keys and the inaudible soft squish of the stream deck. 2nd improvement is time it takes for the stream deck to boot up sometimes. Sometimes its instant, some times it takes a second, and other times it doesnt load at all and you have to open the app. Minor details but major improvements i would think.
Had zero issues with it so far. Been a great keyboard but I wish it had the scissor keys on the streamdeck. That would make it 5 stars. If there is ever an upgrade option to trade mine back i would definitely do that
