Interesting concepts but poor player experience

The variable room sizes are true to an authentic boutique hotel. The fine art showroom is a nice touch. The step by step instructions make this a build for any level of experience.
However, player experience is extremely poor. The fine art showroom is so small that minifigures do not fit. Even taking the desk and chair out make the space challenging to use. While the wedge shaped structure makes the hotel more unique, there is such a waste of space behind and around the building, that if used would have allowed for not only better playability but for interior design. For example an elevator would allow the porter to bring bags to the rooms when the cart is needed (or what is the purpose of even including a cart?) or have space to bring suitcases inside all rooms, to include a bathroom in more than a single room or more attention to fine detail-more could have been included in the lobby where there is a complete waste of space. These are just some examples. For me, paying the price to have a wedge shaped building is not worth the cost of the set.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Enjoyable Build, Attractive Display,

without a doubt, the entire Lego icon city Street series excels in producing attractive shelf or table top displays. The easy to separate modular system allows an adult or an older child bragging rights to demonstrate the intricate and well appointed interior of each floor of each building.
In the hotel, on the second floor, you will find a basic room, and upgraded suite. The third floor of the hotel hosts a single suite what your favorite guests.
For a good storyline, you will need to add a few more mini figs, especially on the spacious main level floor but also at least one or two per room.
The one common problem with all of the modular buildings is the accessibility for smaller children to really enjoy them. Unlike the dollhouse format where the child can just reach in from the back and move the many things around, all four sides on the modular format are sealed and two I have any imagine to play you must actually separate the floors, which I would recommend that an older child or parent assist with.
Personally, I will be attempting to modify the hotel to fix the back wall and allowed to completely swing open.

I’ve done some personal MOC’s that are a combination of modular and dollhouse design that incorporate enclosed fourth wall that does open up, and I have been working on adding a change to the police station and to the hotel right now just purchased.
Another great idea to add to this hotel, and the challenge for others is to add a lift (elevator). Because of the stairway being against the edge of a wall, this challenge, although challenging your design capabilities, the actual build may not be that bad.
In conclusion, I like your boutique hotel quite a bit. I would recommend it as an adults. Welcome item.

This product is AMAZING!! It is fun, creative, and I love the top floor. Great job, LEGO. The only flaw is the shape. Kinda weird angle. But anyway, the rooms, lobby, bar, and art shop is so cool. Especially the color. The skylight, and terrace are super cool. Phenomenal product. Definitely recommend the product.

LEGO returned to basics with this set. A wonderful new Hotel set for anyone who missed the original or needs a second. The standout architecture fits perfectly with the Sanctum set and gives us one of the best looking modular sets in a long time.

This set is awesome! And I thought I'd bought the best Modular when I'd gotten the Backstreet Bookstore. This Boutique Hotel looks great on my Modular street! It looks best put against the Police Station or Backstreet Bookstore, but it will also look good against the Assembly Square. When you make this purchase, you're not only getting one beautifully designed Victorian-inspired hotel, you're also getting a fine art gallery and cafe. Every part of this set is well designed. The lobby is well designed (Though LEGO could have added some more there), both the budget and normally-priced rooms are well designed with no cut cost, and the penthouse suite has everything you could want in a hotel room. The use of the eggshell, snake and bumper car pieces are very creative. This set is also packed with references to other Modulars. I am very satisfied with this set. Would buy again, no doubt about it.

Boutique hotel & Tiny Pieces

The Boutique hotel was a Ginormous building
I had to build. It took forever building it.
There were lots of small pieces I had to put together. The hotel has lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of detail. The rooms were extremely cramped. It can be difficult placing the furniture in place If you have giant hands.
It can be difficult to play in the building. I recommend displaying in your closet (put it securely on a shelf) and forget about it do you don't have the risk of redoing the tedious build. Display this last i recommend. The other sets may be less difficult to redo so they don't have to be in a closet. It was definitely an expert build with the amount of small pieces I had to deal with hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours upon hours on end. I had to put 3066 whole pieces There were a few giant pieces. That was nice for a short while then I was stuck with the little tiny pieces. They are soo small that they can be difficult to hold on to. Even step one started with a tiny piece! There was alot on each step. There were many challenging spots especially placing the small pieces. The instructions were very very thick. I had to flip 288 pages and do about 450 steps. When I opened the box I saw lots and lots of packets. They were all numbered. The set came with a pretty big land. The smallest pieces were the tiny round pieces. They can drop easily. It would also be hard to find again. If anyone wants an ultimate challenge or loves building tiny pieces then here is the perfect set for you
