Bought as a secret from my mom

[Employee of lego-global] Me and my dad secretly bought this when I got a dupe set for Christmas. My dad enjoys watching me build. As with the modulars there is some play value but in the end you are not going to be doing that. This set is a tribute to all off the other modulars out there. I would say it needs more rooms and it does feel a bit cramped but other than that it is stunning. Price is so worth it as it is one of the most big lego sets at 3000 pieces and the second biggest modular. like I said it is a tribute to other modulars so it might not be the best one to start on. Buy it, or dont.

Picassos and Mondrians and Cubists Oh My!

What a fun build! I had so much fun putting together all of the different elements of this build, and the unique shape was ingenious too! I wish I could get my hands on the previous years' sets without paying an arm and a leg so I could continue the fun!

Love the new design

I give credit to Lego for taking a new approach on modular design. This gives new options on how to place it. Love the little details and the Easter eggs from prior modulars. It was not challenging but fun to build. Next to other modulars besides the Parisian Restaurant looks out of place and a lot different but like I said before with this new approach and future buildings will make this interesting and fun. With the Downtown Diner and Detective's Office being different I think this Boutique Hotel style is more appropriate but that's just my opinion. Love it!

This is WONDERFUL!

This is my wife and I's FOURTEENTH modular and is definitely in our top three favorites.
When I first saw photos for this set, I thought it was rather small looking, the palm tree looked a little weird, and I thought it'd be a little awkward in placing it among the others.
However, once we completed it and placed it by the Fire Brigade and the Parisian Restaurant, the end result is great! Even the open alley behind the main building turned out to be a positive creative choice, rather than something I originally thought would be strange.
And the build was incredibly unique, the details fantastic without becoming TOO much like a over-complicated MOC, in that it still retains the classic and charming build style.
I enjoyed reading an interview with the designers which stated that the LEGO Group is continually focused on changing things up. They have to in order to make the builds continually interesting and engaging, and I appreciate that, as it seems to pay off for us.
I know a lot of people were hoping for a re-release or an updated version of Café Corner, but I'm glad we got this.
That being said, I may be in the minority in wanting LEGO to re-release the first three modulars (Café Corner, Market Street, and Green Grocer) as the majority of us modular fans don't have those, and their prices on secondary markets are outrageous. Don't have them be the yearly new model, but rather just release them as bonuses :)

Amazing build

I love this set! As a modular collector, this is definitely one of the more impressive builds I’ve done. The sheer geometry involved and clever part usage to achieve the building angles was amazing!

Unique design and techniques

Overall, I am very impressed with the hotel. The positives outweigh the negatives, although I will include a bit of both, but more good than bad. The colors work really well together. The flesh color is introduced in a substantial quantity, and it blends well with the popular nougat and sand green. The overall shape is a new design and the geometry used is fascinating. There are many curves and angles that are not 90 degrees on this one. Also, there is only one "blank" side since the fancy windows exist on three sides of the baseplate. The art gallery is fairly small, but it has some interesting details. Above this sits an outdoor deck with a small bar area. The build reminds me of the Art Nouveau style and several parts are used to create gates and other details typical to this style. As you follow the instructions, there are many throwbacks to the other modulars, and it is entertaining to read the explanations. As expected, there are many minibuilds that are quite pleasing, and several details you would hope to find in a small hotel such as the baggage cart, the beds, and room furniture.
There were only a few negatives. Minor nitpicks include no elevator, kind of defeating the purpose of the baggage cart. The cabinet doors in the guest rooms are very loose as well and do not necessarily stay shut. It is also evident that the height of each of the floors decreases from bottom to top. I am likely going to try to modify the top floor by increasing it by a brick height to get it more even with the middle floor. The height is not a dealbreaker by any means, but it is something that can be adjusted by gaining some extra parts. Certainly, I am glad to add this to my "city" and it is definitely in my top three for this series overall.

On step 325 the pictures clearly shows a white 2x1 is added to the bottom of the white L-bracket. However the part is not called out in the instructions, nor are the 10 2x1 white pieces included.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excited to add to the collection

Highly pleased with this build. The easter eggs never end and there are few repetitive parts. I wish there was some more interior detail but since I don't tend to separate my modular floors I won't see the interior much anyways.
