Hinge has play in it

I have not used it yet, but I immediately noticed the waffle maker’s hinge wobbles enough that the lid can be closed without going directly into the slot.

I need to work out a little bit more. I made my first waffle but yet it wasn’t as dark so I need to work on the temperature control as well as I need to work on my batter.
