Green light on too quickly

I am a little confused. The green light comes on even though the waffle is only partly done. I have it on the darkest setting. Is there something wrong with this product?

It’s great. If it was pre seasoned so there wouldn’t be a chemical smell during the initial use, it would get all 5 stars.
